BENTON â€“ It didnâ€™t start well for the Benton Panthers against their arch rival Bryant Hornets on Friday night at Benton Arena, but a 20-0 run from the end of the first quarter until the beginning of the third quarter propelled the Panthers to a 41-34 victory over the Hornets. It was both teamsâ€™ first 7A/6A South conference game of the season.
Jean F. Adams, 90, of Benton passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.Â A gifted musician, she was a prominent voice teacher and vocal coach, active with Arkansas Junior Miss and highly sought as a pageant coach.
In the 1960s and early '70s, she directed the chancel choir at First United Methodist Church in Benton.Â She was active in MacDowell Music Club, dance club, and bowling league; was a crossword puzzle enthusiast; and continued to play in a bridge club at the age of 90.Â Known for her beautiful smile and her cheerful spirit, her presence lit up every room.
