Dear First Day of School,
I cannot believe you are back so soon. I mean, didn't we just end our last school year?! I can't really decide if I am happy to see you or if I want you to stay away a bit longer. But since you are rapidly approaching, in spite of my preparations (or lack thereof, whatever) there are some things we need to talk about. I think it is time for you and I to have a heart to heart.
A three-year-old child has sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Bryant near Ridgecrest and North Streets.
Rumors that the vehicle was an ice cream truck are false, said Sgt. Todd Crowson, Bryant Police Department spokesperson.
“The child, whose name cannot be released, ran out into the street in front of a moving pickup when he was struck,” Crowson said.
The child was transported to Saline Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
The driver of the vehicle was not at fault for the accident and will not face any charges, he said.
