The daughter of a woman found dead Wednesday has been arrested in connection with her mother's death.
Linda Stingley, 65, of Batesville was last seen leaving work Monday night and later was reported missing.
Stingley's body was found in a rural area outside of Malvern, more than 100 miles from her home.
Her daughter, Jerrie Lyn Acklin, 40, was been arrested and is facing a murder charge.
Acklin is currently detained at the Independence County Sheriff's Office and her bond has been set at $500,000, said Independence County Sheriff Steve Jeffery.
Bauxite Mayor Johnny McMahan has proposed two ordinances that will seek to lower the salaries of council members and the mayor, effective Jan. 1, 2015.
McMahan plans to present these to the City Council at its June 16 meeting.
McMahan said, "This is a cost-cutting measure that I believe we need to do for the financial stability of the town. I will propose a $50 per month salary for council members; and recommend lowering the mayor's salary from $865 a month to $740 per month."
A woman who was arrested when she allegedly dragged a child across the carpet at Wisdom Tree Daycare in Bryant has been charged with second-degree battery.
Keyuanna Coats allegedly admitted to investigators that she had taken an eight-month-old child and dragged him across the carpeted floor twice, causing carpet burns to the child's elbows, said Sgt. Todd Crowson, Bryant Police Department spokesperson.
Since Coats' arrest, the Arkansas Department of Human Services has revoked the child care center license for the day care center.
