•A man at the Dogwood Lake Apartments on Highway 5 reported his cell phone was stolen at the apartment pool.
•A man on West Cross Street reported his Echo backpack blower was stolen from his landscape trailer.
•A man on Pinewood reported that his stereo system was stolen from his vehicle.
•A man on South Fourth Street reported someone broke into his shed and stole items.
•A woman on Hidden Meadows reported her residence was broken into and items stolen.

Alderman Brooks: 'I will no longer sign checks for (Mayor McMahan)'

Bauxite City Council is scheduled for a special meeting at7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

The meeting was called by Alderman Karen Brooks. Joining in the request for the special session were Alderman Mona Struble and Alderman Paula Matthews.

If three aldermen request a council meeting, it must be held, according to Arkansas Municipal League rules.

Father, son charged in rape case

A father and a son are facing rape charges in conjunction with the alleged sexual assaults of a mentally challenged girl, according to Scotty Courtney, public information officer for the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

Jeff Osborn, 50, of 10225 Mars Hill Road, Bauxite, was jailed initially at the Saline County Detention Center, but has been released on bond, Courtney said. He faces two counts of rape and other possible charges, he added.

Joey Osborn, 27, of the same address, remains jailed on a parole hold and currently faces four counts of rape, Courtney said.
