Sybol Audrey Cain Carter of Benton died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in Benton. She was 93. She was born to the late Willie Ira and Mamie Cain in Lonsdale. Sybol and her husband David owned and operated the Western Auto store in Benton for 45 years. She was a member of many local service organizations for Benton, as well as Saline County, and she and David were lifetime members of the First United Methodist Church in Benton.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, David Walton Carter, and one sister, Phyllis Anne Green. Â
CHICAGO â€” Assistant Chicago Fire Department Commissioner Michael Fox says the pilot in asmallÂ planeÂ crash has died.
The small twin-engine cargo planeÂ crashed into a home Tuesday, plunging into the basement but leaving the bungalow's two residents unhurt.
Fox did not identify the pilot but says emergency crews are trying to recover the body from the wreckage.
The pilot of the Aero Commander 500 had just taken off from nearby Midway International Airport when he reported engine trouble around 2:40 a.m. and asked to return to the airport.
LUXORA â€” Police in northeast Arkansas are investigating the theft of more than $3,000 worth of meat from a food pantry.
Luxora Police Chief Albert Wright tells KAIT-TV someone smashed a hole in a wall of the God's Angel Ministry Food Pantry last week. Thirty pounds of beef, 20 pounds of chicken and a variety of other meats were reported stolen.
Volunteer Donnice Haymon says the food would have helped feed hungry families on Thanksgiving and would have kept the pantry stocked through January. She says cans of green beans, corn and other vegetables weren't taken.
