A Benton man — a former firefighter for the Benton Fire Department — was arrested on Friday for allegedly having child pornography on his home computer, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
Timothy Ryan Bodkin, 38, faces 1,000 counts of felony possession of child pornography and is being held without bond pending an appearance via satellite in Benton District Court later today.
Benton City Council is expected tonight to consider the second reading of an ordinance that amends customer service rules, regulations and fees for Benton Utilities customers.
The ordinance previously been presented for its first reading.Three are required before a vote can be taken.
If the ordinance is approved, it will amend the amount charged to commercial customers that are delinquent on their accounts.
Benton Public Utilities Commission recently addressed the matter, which also came under the review of the council's Community Services Committee.
The Saline County Library will host a lock-in for teens as part of the Summer Reading program.
The event is scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, to 7 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Herzfeld Library in Benton.
Contracts to confirm attendance may be picked up at either library location and are due back by Friday, July 6.
