Benton School Board executive session on Oct. 14 determined to be illegal

October 17, 2013

In a memo to Benton School District staff members on Oct. 16, Superintendent Jeff Collum noted that an executive session held during the school board's regular meeting on Oct. 14 illegally discussed a proposed salary scale for teachers. Executive sessions are designated specifically for personnel actions for specific employees, not for issues of general nature.
A full story about the issue and a Personnel Policy Committee meeting on Oct. 16 where the matter was discussed can be found in the Oct. 17 issue of The Saline Courier.

NOTICE: Water main breakage in Benton

October 17, 2013

FROM BENTON UTILITIES:
Crews have just arrived on scene of a busted water main on W. Sevier at Maryland. We have called in an emergency locate where other underground utilities can mark their lines, so we won't hit them. The crew is gathering the necessary supplies and equipment to make the repair at this time. As soon as the other utilities in the area are marked, they will reduce the pressure in the area to make the repair, so some customers will notice little to no pressure until the repair is made.
