Halloween Should be All Treats and No Tricks

Lt. Kevin Russell, Benton Police spokesperson gives some tips for families partaking in Halloween festivities tonight.

Halloween is a special time of year for both you and your children. The children get to enjoy dressing up and eating lots of candy and you are left with a lifetime of great memories about the fun they had. We at the Benton Police Department want to help you ensure that they are safe while out there trick-or-treating so we have made a short list of things to consider before going out on Halloween night.

Bryant Police Chief begins unpaid leave

Bryant Mayor Jill Dabbs announced during a City Council meeting Thursday night that Bryant Police Chief Mark Kizer will be placed on unpaid administrative leave for five days beginning Monday, Oct. 28.
The disciplinary action results from an incident that occurred last summer when Kizer and School Resource Officer Lee Ledbetter used the city's credit card to pay for a meal at an upscale strip club and steakhouse while in Orlando, Fla., for SRO training.

Cement truck overturns, blocks traffic

October 24, 2013

A Benton Redi-Mix cement truck tipped over onto its side Monday morning while turning uphill from the westbound service road of Interstate 30 to Highway 5. The driver of the truck injured his left wrist, but was otherwise unharmed. The truck was empty at the time.
