The burn ban in Saline County has been lifted, according to County Judge Lanny Fite.
The area received about an inch of rain Tuesday afternoon and evening, which brought up the soil moisture level, the deciding factor in determining drought conditions.
High temperatures and lack of rain contributed to wildfire danger that necessitated the ban, which had been in effect since Monday, July 8.
The Bryant School Board has called a special meeting tonight to discuss staff and faculty changes within the district and polling sites for the 2013 school election.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Bryant High School multipurpose room.
The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several areas in central Arkansas, including southern Saline County.
The storm is capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
This storm was located 6 miles west of Benton, and moving Southwest at 15 mph at 1:55 p.m.
Locations impacted include Benton, Traskwood, Rockport, Lonsdale and Haskell.
This includes Interstate 30 between mile markers 96 and 121.
The warning is in effect until 2:45 p.m.
