Herzfeld Library in Benton will host a book sale on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Library employees are letting people know it will be a one-day sale instead of the normal two-day event, and special pricing will be in effect.
The sixth annual Hook-a-Heart Bass Tournament presented by Everett Buick-GMC and benefiting Civitan Services will be Aug. 11 on the Arkansas River, with check-in and weigh-in at The North River Landing in North Little Rock.
To make sure the tournament is run professionally, Civitan Services has partnered with Mr. Bass of Arkansas pro/am series director, Ronnie Everett. Everett will serve as the tournament director.
The tournament is open to all amateur anglers 16 years and older and there should be two fishers per boat.
The final day to vote in The Saline Courier 2014 Pet Calendar Contest is Friday.
Votes are 25 cents each and can be entered at The Saline Courier office, 321 Market St. in Benton.
The top 12 pets will be featured in the calendar, which will be sold later this year.
Winners will be announced Thursday, Aug. 8 in the paper.
All proceeds benefit the Newspapers in Education program.
