Car hits side wall of the Rib Crib in Benton; Driver injured

Rescue personnel work to stabilize the driver of a Ford Focus after a collision at the Rib Crib in Benton. The accident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. this morning. Witnesses say the driver had passed through the intersection of Military Road and Landers Road and was slumped over the steering wheel. The car proceeded across the parking lot at Bank of the Ozarks, hitting the side of the Rib Crib building. The driver was placed in a neck brace and taken to Saline Memorial Hospital. The identity of the driver has not been released.

Bryant Superintendent placed on administrative leave

Bryant Superintendent Randy Rutherford has been placed on administrative leave for at least the next 30 days.
The district released this statement about the situation.
"The Bryant Board of Education is actively developing a plan to ensure interim leadership at the superintendent level. The board has the utmost confidence in the ability of the current administration to handle any questions or decision that may arise until an interim leader is designated."
Further information is confidential, said Rhonda Sanders, school board president.

'Steel Magnolias' running at Royal Theatre

"Steel Magnolias," the popular play by Robert Harling, will open Friday night, March 7, at the historic Royal Theatre in Downtown Benton.
Performances will continue Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, March 8 and 9, and be repeated the following weekend, March 14-16.
Everett Buick GMC is sponsoring the show, which is being directed by Gina Welch and produced by Lisa Goodrich.
The entire play is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, La., where all the ladies "who are anybody" come to have their hair done.
