New administrators to district honored at reception Monday

June 6, 2014

Benton School District officials welcomed three new administrators to the district on Monday night.

Honored at a reception preceding a school board meeting were Randy McFarlin, Michael Armstrong and Mark McDougal.

McFarlin is the district's new athletic director, succeeding Steve Quinn, who recently resigned from to become principal of Benton Middle School in the coming school term.

Bauxite City Council calls special meeting

Three members of the Bauxite City Council have requested a special meeting for Friday, June 6 at 4:30 p.m.
Alderman Paula Matthews stated, "This is our second attempt at a special meeting to take care of filling the seat for council, after the first attempt was canceled by the mayor."
Allison Cain resigned for her position on the council earlier this year, leaving the vacancy.

SMH, Red Cross set partnership for '100 Days of Summer' drive

Vacations and summer activities often result in a decline in blood donations during the summer. That’s why Saline Memorial Hospital has partnered with the American Red Cross for the “100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope” Campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to increase blood donations during the summer months.
SMH is hosting a blood drive on Monday, June 9, in the SMH Health Education Building-Classroom 1.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
