Dabbs not happy after lack of quorum; 5 aldermen no shows for council meeting

The Bryant City Council was scheduled to meet Thursday evening but that meeting was canceled when only three aldermen were present.

Aldermen Randy Cox, Adrian Henley, Scott Curtis, Brenda Miller and Wade Permenter were absent.

The council had planned to discuss the city’s finances, two development projects and a proposed change to the city attorney’s position.

Aggressive groundhog charges at New Hampshire man

HAMPTON, N.H. — A New Hampshire man says he was working in his garage when a groundhog he had seen in his backyard charged at him.

Gary McGrath of Hampton tells WMUR-TV (http://bit.ly/1uPMz6b) the groundhog got close, so he pushed him back with his foot Tuesday. But the animal returned. McGrath said he gave him a harder kick and closed the garage door.

But the groundhog sneaked through another opening — and McGrath ended up running to the front door.

Man arrested for allegedly imprisoning woman

A Benton man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly not allowing a woman to leave her home and making threats against another individual.

Gary Kyle, 53, of Benton was charged with terroristic threatening, false imprisonment, aggravated assault and assault on a family member in connection with the incident, according to the Saline County jail inmate roster.

Kyle also is named in an active warrant for failing to appear in court for careless driving.

The victim told police that Kyle is an acquaintance who came to her residence Tuesday night and asked if he could spend the night.
