•A woman at Childcare Network on Alcoa Road reported her purse was stolen.
•A manager at I-30 Travel Park reported a picnic table was stolen.
•Ashley Hinkle, 27, of Benton was arrested on Interstate 30 for being named on an active warrant.
•An employee at the Heartland Health and Rehabilitation Center reported a television was stolen from a resident’s room.
•A man on Jackman Street reported his vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck was stolen.

•A woman on Kent Drive reported a pitbull attacked her dog.

Election Day Forecast: Rain May Factor Into Turnout in Central U.S.

AccuWeather reports while rain could deter voter turnout on Election Day in part of the Central states and the Northwest, dry weather is in store in the East and the balance of the West.

Gubernatorial elections will be held on Nov. 4, 2014, in 36 states, along with elections for many other state and local government offices.

Rain is forecast to soak areas from Texas to the lower Great Lakes on Election Day.

Recycling bin issue draws small crowd at public meeting

The first of three public meetings to gather information regarding the future of recycling bins in Saline County took place Monday night. Thirteen people attended the meeting held at the Office of Emergency Management meeting in Benton. Of the 13, five were residents, two were waste haulers and the remaining six were members of the Saline County Regional Solid Waste Management District Board of Directors or employees of the district.
