Startup working to turn hoverboards into reality

LOS GATOS, Calif. — The more your knees quiver, the more the 90 pound board you're perched on, floating above a pillow of air, seems about to shoot out from under your feet. A high-pitched engine scream bounces from the sheet of copper as you swivel and glide your way a few feet forward.

This is hoverboarding.

Little Rock airmen headed to West Africa

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — About 20 airmen from the Little Rock Air Force Base will be headed to West Africa to help with efforts to contain Ebola.

Base spokesman Arlo Taylor says the airmen with the 19th Airlift Wing will deploy in the coming weeks. Taylor says they will use C-130 cargo planes to transport medical personnel and supplies into Liberia, which has been hit hardest by the epidemic.

The Little Rock airmen will join 105 other airmen from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas to establish the 787th Air Expeditionary Squadron.

Hot Springs teacher found dead in mobile home fire

HOT SPRINGS — Authorities say a Hot Springs Middle School teacher was found dead after a fire at her mobile home.

Hot Springs Fire Marshal Tom Braughton says the fire broke out early Monday morning at the mobile home of 56-year-old Debbie Rushing. Braughton says firefighters discovered Rushing's body in a bedroom after the fire was extinguished.

He tells The Sentinel Record that the fire apparently began in the living room but the exact cause is still unknown.
