Team to review unexpected child deaths in county

A new team will begin reviewing unexpected deaths of infants and children in many Arkansas counties, including Saline, in an effort to determine factors that may have caused or contributed to the deaths.

This will be the sixth team to participate in the state's Infant and Child Death Review Program, which is required by Act 1818 of 2005. The act mandates a review all unexpected deaths of children under the age of 18.

The team and program are overseen by the Injury Prevention Center at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Fourth of July activities abound in Saline County

Several opportunities for celebrating this country's freedom will be available locally next week.
Fourth of July events are available in Bryant on Thursday, and at the Salem Ball Park, the Saline County fairgrounds and Sunset Lake on Friday, Lake Norrell on Saturday.

BREAKING NEWS: Bank robbery suspect apprehended

The suspect involved in the Summit Bank robbery that occurred earlier today has been apprehended. The suspect was arrested by authorities in Forrest City. Benton Police Department detectives are currently on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
