Realtor's death causes policy changes

Realtor Beverly Carter of Scott was reported missing on Sept. 25. A few days later, the body of the 49-year-old woman was found buried in a shallow grave on Highway 5 in Cabot. Aaron Lewis, 33, has been charged with capital murder and kidnapping in connection with the incident.

Carter's death has caused Realtors across the state and throughout the nation to change policies for safety reasons.

"We will make changes. Her death will not be in vain," said Betsy Arey, Crye-Leike broker in the local community. "Our world is changed, and we have to change with it."

Bryant Council schedules meeting to discuss suit settlement

Bryant City Council has scheduled a special meeting to discuss a settlement related to a lawsuit several residents filed against the city six years ago.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Boswell Municipal Complex.

Police arrest 2 in connection with break-in

Two people were arrested Wednesday night for allegedly trying to break into coin machines at a carwash.

When officers arrived at Brown's Car Wash on Edison Avenue, they found James McCool, 38, and Jessica Higgins, 28, of Benton. At the time, McCool was holding a screwdriver that matched pry marks on one of the coin machine, according to the police report.

Ben-Tonys presentation set Saturday

The Royal Players Ben-Tony awards presentation is scheduled Saturday night at the historic Royal Theatre in Downtown Benton.

Susan Dill, president of the theater group, encouraged attendance at the event, saying, "Get your 'glam' on or come casual."
