Annie Jewel Anderson Brown

Annie Jewel Anderson Brown, 78, of Alexander passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011, at her home.
She was born on March 22, 1933, in Rover to the late Charlie and Jessie (Cathey) Anderson.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Hurricane Lake Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Brown, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Tom Brown and wife Sally of Benton and Pete Brown of Alexander; one brother, Charles Anderson and wife Hazel of Rover; and two grandchildren, Paul Brown and Jessica Brown.

Jean Cowden Saunders

Jean Cowden Saunders, 84, Benton passed away April 13, 2011. 
She was born June 11, 1926, in Bauxite.
She graduated from Wesleyan College and taught in the Bryant School System. Later, she founded and successfully ran Cowden Art Conservation for many years. Jean also was an author and published children’s books. Her interests included, flower gardens and working crosswords.
Survivors include a son, David Henry Cowden III and wife Era; daughter, Jean Cowden Kisker and husband Harry; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Betty Sue Dennis

Betty Sue Dennis, 77, of Benton passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House in Bryant.
She was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Dyess to Emmet Ward and Ida Bell (McKenzie) Ward.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Edgar Dennis; seven brothers; and one half sister.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Dennis and wife Bonnie, of Russellville; one daughter, Carolyn Hutcheson and husband Davy of Traskwood; one brother, Billy Ward and wife Laverne of Clinton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ronnie L. Nalley

Ronnie L. Nalley, 61, of Benton passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
He was born April 16, 1949, in Benton.
Ronnie had previously worked at Ashby Funeral Home as an emergency medical technician and was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, D.R. and Mabel Kennimer and Charles and Daisy Nalley.

Piedad Kuttler

Piedad Kuttler, 74, of Benton passed away Monday, April 11, 2011.
She was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Esteli, Nicaragua.
Mrs. Kuttler was a nurse for the health department in Nicaragua, and retired after 22 years from Northrop Grumman, and was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol Reasons, 71, of Benton died April 10, 2011.
Ms. Reasons was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Wichita, Kan., to Clifton and Ethal Schul.
She had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing and playing piano in church. She also loved spending time with her family and animals.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carl Schul; and her sister, Dorothy Tool.

Nicholas Blake O’Rear

Nicholas Blake O’Rear, 18, of Benton passed away April 10, 2011. 
He was born Jan. 13, 1993, in Walker County, Ala. 
Nicholas attended Bauxite High School and was a Black Belt in Taekwondo.  He loved being with his son, family and friends.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Ruth Sharitt.

Winnie C. Mandrell

April 11, 2011

Winnie C. Mandrell, 75, of Benton passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Saturday, April 9, 2011. 
She was born May 23, 1935, in Roswell, N.M. 
Mrs. Mandrell was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, James Mandrell; daughters, Tony Leathers, Jeannie Henderson and Krissy Blackwell. She was very devoted to them all her life. She loved her grandchildren, Cody, Tidy, Nicole, J.T., Karie and her two great-grandchildren, Taylin and Paxton.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Sue Clowers, 69 of Benton passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011.
She was born January 19, 1942 in Dell, Ark., to Edison and Hazel Riggs. 
She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ Church.  She was a homemaker and dearly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Laura Melissa Elliott McKeehan Brown, 96, of Bryant passed away April 8, 2011. 
She was born January 31, 1915 in Rolla, Arkansas to the late James William and Annie Elizabeth (Mathews) Elliott. 
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryant, loved Bingo, painting and word search puzzles.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Brown; brothers, A. T. Elliott, Cecil Elliott, Leslie Elliott; sisters, Jesse Baker, Hazel Jordan, Pearl Skinner, Faye Garlington and Virginia LaSalle.
