Julius "Sunny" Peter-Herman Breckling, 83, of Hot Springs passed away Monday, Oct. 22. He was born March 7, 1929 to the late Martha Weigle Breckling and Julius Breckling Sr. in Hot Springs.
Julius graduated from Lakeside High School and Oklahoma State University in 1951. He was the parks and recreation director in Little Rock. When he retired, the city dedicated River Front Park to him in honor of the work he did for the parks and zoo.
Edna L. Caldwell, 94, of Bryant passed away Monday, Oct. 22.Â
She was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Calico Rock to the late Henry and Susan Harriet Guthrie Benbrook.Â Edna was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earnest N. Smith and Max Caldwell; brothers, Howard and James Benbrook; sisters, Alma Hart, Hazel Bean and Lorene Lester; grandchildren, Lawana Kay Hardin and Melissa Ann Hardin.
James Eldred Davenport, 87, of Benton, passed away quietly in his sleep Saturday, Oct. 20.Â
He was born April 27, 1925, in Grant County, to the late William Harrison â€śHarryâ€ť and Essie Pearl (Barnes) Davenport, the fifth of eight children, and grew up on his grandfatherâ€™s farm outside Sheridan after his dad passed away when he was 8.Â He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service in Europe during the war, including D-Day at Omaha Beach, Normandy, France, followed by campaigns through Belgium, Holland, and Germany.
