Lee E. Jackson, 75, of Mabelvale, died March 5.
Saturday afternoon, March 03, Mary Athlene Sloan Harrison, 92, of Benton quietly slipped from the presence of her daughter and granddaughter, and joined her heavenly Father and many friends and loved ones in her heavenly home. She was born to Daniel Vernon and Mary Bonds Sloan on July 17, 1919, in England, Ark. Her mother died shortly after Mary Aâs birth and her grandmother, Alpha Etta Sloan, lovingly helped her son care for the baby. A few years later, Vernon married Ellen Tanner and Mary was blessed to have a stepmother who loved her dearly.
Vernelle B. Ramsey, 89, of Benton, died Sunday, March 4. She was born Feb. 15, 1923, to Warren Ralph and Eunice McGraw Bishop in Caledonia, Ark. Mrs. Ramsey earned a masterâs degree in education and was also a teacher at Bryant and Bauxite schools for 34 years. Before retiring, she became the first counselor at Bauxite. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Arkansas Society of Mayflower Descendants, A.E.A, N.E.A., Saline County Retired Teachers Association and a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church.Â
Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her parents and husband, G. Tom Ramsey.

Todd Lasage, 46, of Alexander went to be with the Lord on Friday March 2. He was born November 7, 1965 in Benton. Todd was a former employee of Royal Overhead Door Co. Todd was a graduate of Bryant High School and attended University of Arkansas both in Little Rock and Fayetteville, and a member of Bryant First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sissy Tinker Lasage, Alexander; son, Brandon Lasage, daughters, Tiffani Lasage and Ericcah Lasage, both of Alexander; parents, William and Pat Lasage, Alexander; sister, Jana Young, Alexander; grandmother, Lorene Lasage.
Calvin Monroe Hobby, 86, of Benton, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 2. He was born May 22, 1925 in Scott, to the late Gilbert and Bessie Waters Hobby. He grew up in Sardis and was known as âMonroeâ to many growing up.
He served his country in the Navy as a Seabee during WWII. He was retired from Alcoa where he was a pipe fitter. He also was a Farmers Insurance agent for over 30 years in Benton. He was an active member of Parkview United Methodist church, where he served for many years. He was preceded in death by his brother James C. (J. C. ) Hobby and sister, Lonie Pettus.
Martha L. Crain, age 86, of Benton died Friday, March 2, 2012. She was born Oct. 30, 1925 in Benton. Martha was a housewife and a member of West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gertrude Caple; her husband, Dwayne Crain; and a daughter, Helen Wunderlich.
She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Gentry and husband, Gene of Benton; brother, Tommy L. Caple of Benton; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Lorene Warner, 81, of Greenbrier, passed away Thursday, March 1. She was born June 11, 1930 in Rome, Mississippi. Mrs. Warner worked at Curtis Mathis and was a member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Louis and Tressie Mae Ritchey; three husbands, Cecil Woodall, Walter Norwood, and Dee Warner; two sons, J.C. Woodall and Anthony Dewayne Norwood; grandchild, Thomas Jeffrey Warden; great-grandchild, Aubrey Ann Knoble; five sisters and three brothers.
William J. Kidd, 85, of Bauxite passed away Friday, March 2. He was born Oct. 19, 1926, in the Shaw community to the late Moses and Annie Stone Kidd.
William served in the Army during World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam, retiring with the rank of major.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bettie Kidd; his brother, Gean Kidd; and a sister, Mary Jane Allinson.
Paul âScottyâ Beard, 49, of Traskwood passed away Wednesday, Feb. 29. He was born Oct. 25, 1962, in Stuttgart to the late Noel and JoAnn Beard Sr.
Scotty worked at Middleton Heat and Air for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Ron Hodges.Â
He is survived by his wife, Janet Beard; three sons, Paul, Cody and Chris Beard; a daughter, Nikki Polston; four brothers, Davey, Buddy, Wayman and Jayson Beard; four sisters, Karen Duesterhoft, Kathy Beard, Chantae Whitley and Ricki Gail Wood; and two grandchildren, Clayton and Kloey Polston.Â

George W. âBillâ Bard, 89, of Bryant passed away Thursday, March 1. He was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Bauxite to the late James Arthur and Jewel Ewing Bard. Bill was a lifelong Democrat, a resident of Saline County and a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He served in the 782nd Tank Battalion during World War II.
