Mary Jewell Brown, 94, of Benton, died Thursday, May 3. She was born May 15, 1917 in Bauxite to Osroe and Fleeta Akins. Mrs. Brown was retired from Benton Public Schools where she taught third grade at Angie Grant Elementary School before becoming a counselor at West Side Junior High. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton. In leisure time she enjoyed gospel music, antiques and oil painting. She practiced disciplines of industry, determination, hard work and frugality.Â
Gerald âJerryâ Landreth,, 80, of Traskwood, passed away May 3. He was born April 18, 1932 in Traskwood, to the late Arlin and Ruth Summerville Landreth. He was a member of Forest Towers Baptist Church, Justice of the Peace for 12 years and Board Member on the Southwest Water Board for many years. Jerry retired from Reynolds Metals Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Albert, Dewayne and George âBuddyâ Landreth, sister, Shirley Shelton, nephew, Chris Hulsey and daughter in law, Becky Landreth.
Rachel C. Motz, 85, went to be with her Lord on April 18, in Lakeland, Fla. She was born on Sept 14, 1926 to Dominic and Mary Carriato, in Pittsburgh Penn.
She is preceeded in death by her parents and a son Joseph Michael Motz, brothers, Carman Girlordo, William Girlordo, Joseph Girlordo and Louie Carriato; sisters, Caroline Pesa, Rose Secen and Marge Omasits.Â

Martha Jo Masters, 69, of Paris, Texas went to be with our Lord and savior Saturday, April 28. She was born on March 20,1943 in Soper, Oklahoma to the late Zelmar Claude and Jewel Dale Weems Carlile. She was a self-employed cosmetologist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Ray Masters in March of 1969.
Wanda Sue Gentry, 74 passed away on May 1, at her home in Benton surrounded by her family. Wanda was born on September 23, 1937 in Thornburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Ruth Edna (Bailey) Taylor.
Jerry A. McCormick, 67, of Lonsdale, passed away April 30. He was born November 14, 1944 in Hot Springs to Arvell and Mary Eudora Nooner McCormick.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Lou McCormick of Lonsdale, son, Brian McCormick of Fayetteville, daughter, Bethany Carpenter and husband, Jon of Florida, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m, Wednesday, May 2, at 2017 Narrows Road in Lonsdale.
Cremation was through Ashby Funeral Home.

Frances E. Collie, age 95, of Malvern, passed away Monday April 30, at Hot Spring County Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1917 in Hot Spring County to the late William and Alice Davis Hodges. Frances was reared in the Assembly of God faith and worked in housekeeping in a local nursing home. Her loves were her family and her best friend Vernice Taylor. Frances enjoyed gardening and the family said as long as she was âdigging in the dirtâ she was happy. Family was the most important thing to her and she will be greatly missed.

Charlotte Renee Longacre Jones 42, of Bald Knob died April 28, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. She was born September 19, 1969 in Conway.
She is survived by her husband Michael Jones, one son Adam Paxton, one daughter Katie Graham, two grandsons Corbin and Hunter, one sister Sharon Buckler and her parents.
Visitation will be 12 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at First Christian Church in Bald Knob, with the service following at 3 p.m.

Louise F. Maertens Prickett Knight, 88, of Benton, went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 27, 2012. She was born June 17, 1923, in Benton. She is the daughter of the late August H. and Freda P. Storch Maertens. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Little Rock, Lutheran Womenâs Business Club, and Lutheran Womenâs Missionary League. She was a devoted mother, wife, and âGrandma Louiseâ.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Horace Prickett, Sr., and Felix Knight, and her brother, Johney Maertens.
Frederic Earnest Davis, 91, of Benton, passed away April 26. He was born in Benton on May 6, 1920 and raised in the Mt. Olive Community, Fred was the son of Lonnie Graydon (Doc) Davis and Alice Levillain Davis. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC Camp) at St. Charles and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Fred worked for ALCOA for 43 years in the mining division.
