Lorece B. Chapman

Lorece B. Chapman, 81, of Gainesboro, Tenn., formerly of Benton, passed away March 16 in Gainesboro. She was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Sheridan to the late Jeff and Myrtle Shoptaw Bennings.
Lorece was a member of Spring Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Chapman; a brother, Robert Bennings; and three sisters, Corine Hollinger, Nadine Mitchell and LaVonda Davis.
She is survived by a son, Edward Chapman of Benton; a daughter, Donna Waller and husband Bill of Gainesboro, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Billy Gene Sledge

Billy Gene Sledge, 81, of Alexander passed away March 18 in Benton.  He was born July 27, 1930 in Conway to the late Miles S. Sledge and Lena Hattie Sims Sledge.  Mr. Sledge was a self-employed carpenter, and was a member of the Vimy Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ellen “Fritzy” Sledge on March 4, 2012; two sons, Robert Gene Sledge, and Tony Sledge; one brother, Johnny Sledge; two grandchildren, Shane Sledge and Jennifer Wheeler. 

Penny Crowson

Penny Crowson, 80, of Benton passed away Friday, March 16. She was born Jan. 23, 1932 in Bauxite. Penny was a retired employee of Safeway Stores and a member of New Hope Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Alice  Molock; two brothers, Sonny Molock and Jim Molock and a sister, Mary Molock.

June Marie “Polly” Moser

June Marie “Polly” Moser of Alexander died March 15. Mrs. Moser was a Baptist and had retired from the Alexander Human Development Center.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Toy and Donnie Moser.
She was the loving mother of five surviving children: Andy Moser, Rose Samples and Debby Lowery of Greenville, S.C.; Pam Roberts of Mabelvale; and Diane Moser Cochran of Alexander; and 14 grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, March 26, at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander with the Rev. Wayne Preston officiating.

Norma J. Rasmussen Adams

Norma J. Rasmussen Adams, 81, of Alexander passed away on March 15, 2012. She was born on Sept. 21, 1930 to Joseph Richard and Lorraine Edwards Fowler in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a proud member of the Bryant Senior Activity Center. She worked as an LPN for 25 years at St. Vincent’s Hospital and retired in 1995.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Levi E. Rasmussen and Chester Adams; son, Douglas Rasmussen and one granddaughter.

Willie J. Robertson

Willie J. Robertson, 74, of Alexander passed away Friday, March 16. He was born April 61937 at Navy Landing to Joe R. and Mary Illa Fisher Robertson. He was a very loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He loved spending time with his friends and family outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Willie was also an avid Texas Holdem player, and was a member of the Collegeville Volunteer Fire Department for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Ray Robertson.

Christine Bennett

Christine Bennett, 84, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 15. She was born August 9, 1927 in Little Rock, to the late Christopher and Eula Mae Lawhon Rauch. She worked for St. Vincent in Telecommunications for 42 years were she retired and was a member and church clerk of Baseline Missionary Baptist for 48 years. Christine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whom loved to cook for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wallace Bennett and two brothers, George and Kenneth Rauch.

Elva Louise “Lou” Hester

Elva Louise “Lou” Hester, 92, of Benton passed away Wednesday evening, March 14, 2012, at Saline Memorial Hospice House at Bryant.
She was born Oct. 9, 1919, to Albert V. and Rosebud Greenway Barnette at Blocher, Ark. She was a graduate of Fountain Lake High School and a member of Grape Chapel Church of God.
Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Rogie L. Hester; her parents; her brother, Walker Barnette; and her stepmother, Etha Lee Barnette.

Bill Brotherton, Jr.

Bill Brotherton Jr., 69, of Benton passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.
He was born May 5, 1942, in Bauxite to the late William E. Brotherton Sr. and Arie Green.
Mr. Brotherton was a disc jockey in his early years and worked at the Arkansas Health Center for 35 years.
He was an avid fan of the Razorbacks, St. Louis Cardinals, and Bauxite Miners.

Warren Lee Crouch

Warren Lee Crouch, age 66, of Bauxite passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2012. 
He was born Oct. 4, 1945, in Benton.
Mr. Crouch served in the Navy and was a retired mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Gladys Crouch; and two brothers, Robert and Ray Crouch.
He is survived by two sons, James Crouch (Elizabeth) of Sardis and Michael Crouch of Bauxite; a sister, Marie Clemmons of Benton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
