Lorene (Wilson) Harrison, 85, of Vimy Ridge was born Dec. 28, 1927, and passed away peacefully in her home on Feb. 28.
Lorene and her husband Leonard were joined together in marriage March 24, 1946, and were married for 67 years. Lorene took great pride in serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a faithful member of the Village Creek Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and homemaking, while delighting in caring for her husband, and their children and grandchildren with her quiet, resourceful and influential spirit.
Larry DeWayne Johnson, 75, of Lonsdale peacefully passed away at home on Feb. 22. Larry was surrounded by his loving family and is now in the presence of the Lord. He was born Jan. 25, 1938.
Larry was a veteran of the Navy, a retired truck driver and fleet manager for A. Tennebaum Co. Inc. He was foremost a Christian man and did not hesitate to share his faith and beliefs in the Lord with those around him.
Larry cherished his family. He loved time spent on his farm along with family cookouts, antiquing and going to auctions.
Don Gary Ewing, of Benton passed away on Feb. 26 at the age of 63.
Don was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired from JCPenney after 37 years, 13 of which were spent as manager of the JCPenney in Benton.
Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Ada, Okla., and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton.Â
He was preceded in death by his father, Irwin Cooke Ewing II; and a brother, Irwin Ewing III.
Mary Ethel Nichols Makin, 78, of Lonsdale died Tuesday, Feb. 26. She was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Kentucky. Mary was retired from the Benton School District and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ethel Crouch Nichols; and her husband, Donald Makin.
She is survived by her son, Donald Makin Jr. of Tennessee; three daughters, Kay Prysock of Benton, Debbie Teague of Glenwood and Angie Furr of Benton; a sister, Bessie Wilson; three brothers, William Nichols, Arlin Gabbard and Aurther Gabbard; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Henry Delbert Hicks, 77, of Bauxite passed away Monday, Feb. 25. He was born Oct. 9, 1935, in Bauxite.Â
Mr. Hicks was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Wesley and Gladys Lucille Hicks; his lifelong companion, Carol Jean Allen; and nine siblings.
Clifton Eugene Ollar, 50, of Benton, passed away on Feb. 25. He was born March 12, 1962, at the U.S. Naval Station in the Philippine Islands.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Clifton is survived by his parents, Claudie Ray and Sarah Ollar of Benton; two sisters, Kimbralee Riggan and Lynn Ollar; a brother in-law, Samuel Riggan; a nephew, Casey Riggan and wife Kristin; and a great-niece, Randi Riggan
