Cledis A. Davenport, of Benton, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, at the age of 82. He was born August 18, 1930 in Sheridan, to the late Grover and Grace Davis Davenport. He had an extensive career with the federal government, retiring from the U.S. Army and the Pine Bluff Arsenal.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine Swilling Davenport, and his parents, Grover and Grace Davis Davenport.
Cecil â€śWayneâ€ť Bright, 61, passed away July 24, 2013.
Wayne was born Aug. 30, 1951, in Hawkinsville, Ga. Wayne was of the Baptist faith. He loved gospel music.
Wayne had many talents including a beautiful singing voice, playing the bass, violin and piano. His children fondly remember him attempting to dance and teaching them to crochet and knit.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Opal Bright.
Carl James Hardwick, 87, of Little Rock passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013. He worked for Bean Music Co. for 32 years and started Hardwick Band Instruments in 1970. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of Parkway Place Baptist Church.
Ray Edward Bunt, age 57, of Benton passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013.Â He was born Sept. 27, 1955, in Little Rock.Â Mr. Bunt was a U.S. Marine and a truck driver.Â
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ray Bunt.
Rev. Grover L. Farrow, 82, passed away July 25, 2013. Grover was born March 11, 1931, in Oak Grove, La. Rev. Farrow pastored the Pentecostal Church of God in Bryant for 14 years. He enjoyed spending time camping and fishing at Tar Camp and Lake Sylvia. His children and grandchildren enjoy reminiscing of happy times spent at deer camp with him.
Grover was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Alba Farrow; four brothers; and one sister.
Thelma Cash Baggett, 77, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Little Rock at Baptist Health Medical Center.
Mrs. Baggett attended Glen Rose High School. She retired from the Arkansas Health Center and was a member of Fairplay Missionary Baptist Church.Â
Mrs. Baggett was preceded in death by her parents, James Daniel and Frances Cash; her stepmother, Edith Cash; her husband, Sherrill Baggett; five brothers, Ellis, Edward, Bob, Morris and Clenton Cash; and two sisters, Hazel Hughes and Letty Burks.
Carolyn â€śJeanâ€ť Burke, 58, passed away July 21, 2013.
Jean was born on June 19, 1955, in Searcy. She was a seamstress and bookkeeper. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School. Her three precious grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Gertrude Alonda Springer, 94. of Benton passed away July 17, 2013. She was born May 5, 1919, to Oliver Theodore (OT) and Alice Brown Wimberley in Recto.
She lived briefly in Litchfield, Ill., and later moved with her family to Jonesboro, where she met and married William Augustus Springer of Shannon, Miss. They moved to Benton in 1942.
David Thomas Moreland, 65, of Benton passed away at his home on Thursday, July 18, 2013.
He was born Sept. 2, 1947, in East St. Louis, Ill., to the late Harold and Marge Thomas Moreland.
Mr. Moreland operated his own insurance agency in Bryant and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Benton.
Â Davidâ€™s favorite moments involved doing anything with his three grandchildren,Â watching sports, and spending time with family and friends on the lake at the houseboat.
Duffie Carroll Addie, 66, of Waskom, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013.Â
He was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Little Rock.
Mr. Addie was a truck driver.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Duffie Addie and Leonia Madaline Addie; two sisters, Birdia Mae â€śBeaâ€ť Dodson and Rose Lee Keller; and two nephews, Robert Young and Steven Dewayne Dodson.
