Danny Alan Brown

Danny Alan Brown, 44, of Bauxite, passed away Sept. 11, 2013.  He was born April 3, 1969 in Benton to Bretton and Pat Wills Brown.
Danny graduated from Bauxite High School in 1988 and was a member of the track team.  He loved to fish and spend time with his children.
Danny liked to do technical puzzles, games and traveled extensively with his work for Manitowoc as an International crane mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bretton Brown.

Lee Warren Johnson

Lee Warren Johnson, 60, of Dodson, La., formerly of Benton, passed away Sept. 11, 2013.
Lee was born April 11, 1953, in Basile, La., to Margaret and Alvin Johnson.

Milton T. Smith

Milton T. Smith, age 82, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013.  He was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Greenville, S.C.
Mr. Smith was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a pastor for 58 years. He was a minister for the Pentecost Church of God. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Smith Sr. and Nettie Smith; his first wife, Alice Smith; a daughter, Wanda Kaye Smith; three brothers, Calvin R. Smith, George W. Smith Jr. and Richard Smith; and five sisters, Iris Bowlin, Lucille Hodge, Elender Brown, Dorothy Wright and Nellie Manley.

Billy Ray 'Pat' Lynch

Billy Ray “Pat” Lynch, 77, of Mountain Pine died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. He was born April 30, 1936, at Hot Springs, the son of the late Ernest Lynch and Elvie Ellen Tucker Lynch.
He attended Mountain Valley Baptist Church, where he was active with the Mission Builders, a group that assists churches and missions with building projects. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lynch; his son, Benjy Lynch; and three brothers, James Lynch, Thomas Lynch and Tucker Lynch.

Mary Beth Davenport Herlein

Mary Beth Davenport Herlein, 84, of Harrison, Ark., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 2, 2013, in Harrison. Beth was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Grant County to the late Joseph Beecher and the late Willie Brad Davenport of Benton.
She was a 1946 graduate of Benton High School and attended Arkansas Tech University, where she was a cheerleader for the Wonder Boys. There she met her late husband, Philip Charles "Duke" Herlein Jr. They were married in January 1947, and moved to Helena.

Billie J. Britt

Billie J. Britt of Benton, departed this life Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.
She was born March 2, 1950, the daughter of late James Lee Anderson and Osie Mae Anderson. Billie was a retired employee of A. T. & T., where she worked in customer services.
She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Benton. She was married to the love of her life, Ernest Earl Britt, who preceded her in death. Her father also predeceased her.

Bernice Juanita Taylor VanDusen

Bernice Juanita Taylor VanDusen, 97, of Haskell passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. Bernice was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Tinsman to Mae and Auburn Taylor.
Bernice was more of a tomboy than a princess and ran barefoot through the dirt roads in Tinsman where she was raised. She helped tend the family garden and worked in the cotton fields when she was very young. She read her Bible daily and loved to read home and garden magazines. Horses were her favorite animals.
Bernice was known especially for being meek and humble. She was known as the family “Prayer Warrior."

Adrein Gregory 'Greg' Land

Adrein Gregory “Greg” Land, 49, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at Springdale.
He was born Aug. 10, 1964, in Westminster, Calif., to Otto Adrein Land and Gara King Land.
Greg was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Benton. He was a 1983 graduate of Benton High School, where he lettered in football and track. Greg was voted outstanding athlete his senior year.

Rita Webb Mathews

Rita Webb Mathews, 67, of Mabelvale, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.  She was born Aug. 10, 1946, in Clay, Ark.
Mrs. Mathews was a licensed practical nurse (LPN). 
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. and Elta Webb.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Mathews; two sons, William Freeman (Jennifer) and Mick Mathews; two daughters, Tonya Malcolm and Melissa Cox; a brother, Charles Smith; and six grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jerrell Wayne East Sr.

Jerrell Wayne "Pops" East Sr., 75, of Alexander passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.  He was born in Rosston, December 5, 1937. 
He was a retired Teamster member, spent 4 1/2 years in the Navy and was a member of the Adoniram No. 288 Masonic Lodge.  Pops enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time at the ballpark, loving on his two dogs, Sandy and Lizzy, and being surrounded by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mae Trudy Foster East; three brothers, Lloyd, Gradon and Jim; two sisters, Selma Cox and Carrie Byers.
