Marguerite Rosa Besancon, 99, of Benton passed peacefully through the gates of heaven on May 31, 2013. Born Feb 23, 1914 in Little Rock, she was a 1932 graduate of Little Rock Senior High and of the Lutheran faith.
She worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., and the state of Texas, then established a career as an excellent colorist at Kings Photo Studio in Killeen, Texas, before moving back to Little Rock.
Jenny Bridges Skorupa, age 53, of Bryant went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2013m at St. Vincentâ€™s Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock.
She was born Sept. 3, 1959, at Millington Naval Air Station in Millington, Tenn., to the late Joseph Kindell Bridges and Franca Redini Bridges. She was a special education teacher with the Bryant School District for 20 years and a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant. She loved scrapbooking and making cards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Mark Skorupa.
Paula Sue Smith passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at the age of 60.Â
She lived most of her life in Saline County where she was loved by family and friends.
Paula was a member of North Bryant Baptist Church.Â She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Erin Leah Keim; her parents, John L. and Mary Lou Smith; and a brother, (John) Leroy Smith Jr. All are of Saline County.
Rex Carles Rasberry, age 73, of Benton passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born Sept. 24, 1939m in Senath, Mo., to the late Willie T. Rasberry and Violet M. Whitlock Rasberry.Â
Mr. Rasberry was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.Â He retired from Falcon Jet after 26 years, where he started the screen printing department and worked in the planning department. He was a former officer with the Newport Police Department, and was a radio announcer.Â
Julie Thornberry, 89, of Bolingbrook, Ill., formerly of Benton, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013.
She was born June 1, 1923, in Paducah, Ky.Â
Mrs. Thornberry was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lizzie Davis; her husband of 49 years, the Rev. Richard Thornberry; and a daughter, Charlene Humphrey.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Hillis of Wynne, Jeanette Wunglueck of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Judy Davis of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; a brother, Bill Davis of Mountain Home; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Richard 'Dicky' Lyndon Redmon, 72, of Benton passed away May 27, 2013, at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1941, in Pine Bluff.
Richard was retired from Alexander Human Development Center, working also at Reynolds Metals Corp. and served in the Army National Guard.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndon Redmon and Nadine Harmon; and his grandmother who raised him, Gertrude Wallace Terry.
Edward G. "Eddie Boy" Fletcher, 86, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2013. Edward, a 1945 graduate of Little Rock High School, served in the U.S. Army as quartermaster in Japan.
Eddie married the love of his life, Mary Jo "Jody" Lewis, in 1947. They raised their family until her death in 1983.
Eddie was vice president of General Press Services in Little Rock; published The Arkansas Legislative Digest, The Daily Record, Arkansas Baptist News Magazine, small town newspapers and many other publications.
Jesmond â€śJessâ€ť A. DiMaio Jr., 70, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. Jess was born March 20, 1943, to Jesmond and Mary DiMaio in Youngstown, Ohio.
Jess and his father started A&D Screw Machine Products of Malvern in 1960. Jess graduated from Benton High School in 1961. His family moved to Malvern in 1962. In 1963, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Gail Ensey. They were married just over 49 years.
Evelyn Dollie Cheshier, 97, of Heber Springs passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. She was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Benton, the daughter of the late Edward Young Green and Hattie (Ogle) Green.
Mrs. Cheshier was a homemaker and mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest P. Cheshier, who passed away on March 3, 2000.
James â€śJimâ€ť Thomas Smith, 81, formerly of Benton, died May 23, in Kaufman, Tex.
Mr. Smith was born in Benton on Sept. 25, 1931 to James Manson and Zelma Smith. He married Ruth Whitted on Sept. 25, 1949. Mr. Smith worked for Walters Drilling Co. in Benton for many years before transferring to the companyâ€™s Dallas office in 1967. He later worked for Southwestern Laboratories in Arlington as a driller and drilling supervisor until his retirement in 1987.
