Delmeray 'D' Johnson

Delmeray “D” Johnson, 81, of Bryant passed away Nov. 20, 2013, with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 10, 1932, to the late Ray and Mae Johnson in Quitman.  D enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching softball, animals and spending time with his family.  He retired after 20 years with the Little Rock Police Department and served with the U.S. Navy in the Korean Wa.  D was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church for more than 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Delmore and Fredrick Johnson.

Delbert Lee Thompson

Delbert Lee Thompson of Cabot passed away Nov. 19, 2013.  He was born Nov. 1, 1935, to John and Iva Thompson.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne; his sister Onita Montgomery; his brothers, Doyle Thompson and Dayton Thompson; and his parents, John and Iva.

Thomas 'Tom' Lee Crossland

Thomas "Tom" Lee Crossland, 72, of Humphrey was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Romance on Nov. 13, 1941.

Berta 'Ruth' Pinkerton

November 25, 2013

Berta “Ruth” Pinkerton, 79, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013. She was born Oct. 21, 1934, to Othel Dean Sr. and Levada (Watson) Dean of Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edgar Dean and Othel Dean Jr.; and a sister, Alene (Dean) Williams.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Carson of Alexander, Judy Romine (Don) of Redfield and Debra Dickson (Bob) of Bauxite; five granddaughters and one grandson; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mary N. Brink

Mary N. Brink, 74, passed away Nov. 20, 2013. She was born July 4, 1939, in Hope. Mary was a member of First Pentecostals of Benton.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Opal Richardson; and her brothers, Charles and Bill Richardson.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Michael Gayle Brink of Benton; two daughters, Anita Burkett and Lisa G. Brink of Benton; a sister, Betty Nash of Benton; a brother, Kenneth Richardson and wife Shirley of Deville, La., as well as many other family members and friends, all who loved her dearly and will miss her always.

John Hunter Ruff

John Hunter Ruff passed from this life on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.  He was born Oct. 19, 1980, to Tami and Drew Ruff in Little Rock.  Hunter was a devoted son and brother, a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, attended Harmony Grove High School, and worked diligently at a young age for the family-owned Tastee Freez, later taking on a management role. He often fondly spoke about his many years there and the friendships he formed during that significant period of his life.

Mary L. 'Weggie' Russell

Mary L. “Weggie” Russell, 58, of Benton died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. She was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Benton. Mary was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Maxwell Denley and Ruby Marie Smith Denley; and two brothers, Donald Lee Denley and James Logan Denley.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Russell of Benton; two sons, Mark Alan Russell and Luke Adam Russell, both of Benton; a daughter, Kelly Shay Chapman of Benton; a half-brother, Tommy Brotherton of Poyen; a sister, Helen Wyble of Booneville, Mo.; and two granddaughters.

Mary J. Montalvo

November 18, 2013

Mary J. Montalvo, age 61, of Benton went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 after a lengthy battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease. She was born Oct. 13, 1952 in Little Rock, AR to Joe and Uldine Herring. Mary was a graduate of Benton High School Class of 1971 and was employed at Smith Caldwell Drug for over 15 years. She was an active member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church where she taught AWANA. She was preceded in death by her father and her late husband, Daryl L. Wells.

Shirley M. Butzlaff

Shirley M. Butzlaff, 86, of Bryant went to be with her Lord on Nov.15, 2013. She was born on Nov. 4, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Shirley was a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. She was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, shopping, eating out, and cooking for her grandchildren. 

Joyce Evelyn Clark

November 18, 2013

On November 14, 2013, Jesus received a "big hug" when Joyce Evelyn Clark, 89, went to be with the Lord. She was born to Saline Cairo and Ruth Griffin on May 14, 1924 in Kingsland. Evelyn was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family always came first; she loved doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great cook and enjoyed family get togethers. Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton and enjoyed fellowship with her Sunday School class.
