Mildred G. King, 87, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29. She was born on December 28, 1923 to the late William Thomas Gwin and Dovie (Haynes) Gwin in Bigelow.Â
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles King, son, Virgil Dean King, and daughter-in-law, Mary King.Â
Mary Evelyn Evans Gleason, 92, of Bryant died Sunday, Nov. 27. She was born June 22, 1919 in Bryant to the late Chester and Bessie Evans.
Mrs. Gleason was a member of Bryant First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence W. Gleason Sr.; two brothers, Chester Evans and Raymond Evans; and a sister, Della Evans.
November 28th
Pearl E. Langley, age 88 of Benton left this earthy world to join her Maker on Saturday, Nov. 26. She was born June 16, 1923 in Benton. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lodie Alter Hamm, husband, Reverend William L. Langley, son, Harley Langley.Â
Survivors, son, David W. Langley, Benton; Three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandbabies.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at Langley Cemetery on the Kirk Road in Benton.
Dorothy Lorene Atchley, age 86, of Bryant, formerly of Sheridan, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011.
She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Prattsville, the daughter of the late James Alison Crutchfield and Lady May (Kennedy) Crutchfield.
She was employed by Westinghouse for more than 33 years. Mrs. Dorothy was recently named the 2011 Southern Trace Health Care beauty queen.
She was of the Baptist faith for many years.
Kenneth L. Burchfield, 63, of Greenbrier died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, in Conway.
He was born Aug. 26, 1948, in Indianola, Miss. Kenneth was a Master Plumber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Purvey and Mattie Lee Burchfield; a brother, John Wiggs; a sister, Nancy Lewis; and his grandparents, Henry and Tressie Richey and Rufus and Octavia Burchfield.
Herbert Eugene McVay, 80, of Malvern, passed away Nov. 24 at St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. He was born July 15, 1931, in Dardanelle, to the late Harvey Eugene McVay and Mildred (Jennings) McVay.
He was a member of the North Main Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and telling stories to his grandchildren. He retired as a millwright from Alcoa Aluminum Metals in Bauxite.Â
He never met a stranger and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Troy Alford McVay.Â

Charles Thomas Long, 77, of Houston died Sunday, Nov. 20, at Riverview Manor in Morrilton. He was born March 6, 1934, in Paron.
Charles was retired from the Little Rock School District. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William and Lorine Hendrix Long.
Michael Kellum, 33, of Alexander, joined Jesus in Heaven on Saturday, November 19. He was born November 17, 1978 in Mt. Home, Idaho. Michael was in construction sales and a member of Bryant First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kroblin.Â
Brandon Lee Crookham, 12, of Haskell, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20. He was born April 30, 1999, in Benton.
Brandon was a seventh-grader in the Harmony Grove School District, where he played football and baseball and was in the band. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God in Haskell.Â
John A. “Johnny” Walker, 71, of Mayflower, formerly of North Little Rock, passed away Nov. 12. He was born to the late Albert and Willene Moring Walker.
He was a management supervisor for Timex Manufacturing where he retired after 25 years of service. He was also a financial consultant.
Johnny was also a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Moose Lodge.
