Brother Oscar N. Golden, 84, of Benton passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014,Â and was ushered into the presence of his Lord by Godâ€™s holy angels.
He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Arkadelphia to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Golden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Joe Golden Jr.Â
He graduated from Ouachita Baptist CollegeÂ in Arkadelphia and then from Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, Kan.
Viola â€śDutchâ€ť Hanna Cowling, 104, passed away June 22, 2014, in Benton.
She was born Jan. 28, 1910, at Ozan, Ark., to the late Harvey Edgar and Etta (Goodlett) Hanna.Â She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. L Cowling; a sister, Edna Hanna; and two brothers, William C. Hanna and Butch Hanna.
Rex George Carson, age 77, of Benton passed away Friday, June 20, 2014.Â
He was born April 12, 1937, in Little Rock.Â
Mr. Carson graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas), with a teacherâ€™s degree and taught for 10 years.Â
The last five years of his teaching was at Benton High School where he was also the golf coach.Â He left teaching and opened the first custom golf repair shop repairing and building custom clubs.Â
Mr. Carson repaired clubs for people from 14 different states.Â Not only did he repair clubs, but he also loved to play the game.Â
Larry Olen Lewis, 64, of Hot Springs, passed away June 18, 2014.Â He was born November 3, 1949 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Elmer and Earline Caldwell Lewis.Â Larry worked for the City of Benton for many years.Â Â He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Â Â War and was awarded two purple hearts during that conflict. Larry can be best remembered for his gentle soul.Â He loved making memories with his family and was an avid outdoorsman.Â Larryâ€™s talents were many, but working and restoring cars was his passion.
