Vonnie Mae Jones Kelley

Vonnie Mae Jones Kelley went to be with the Lord on Oct. 20, at Mercy Hospice in Fort Smith.
She was born April 28, 1920, to Arlie and Zettie Ashmore Jones in Pottsville. She grew up on Crow Mountain and was a lifelong resident of Pope County. She married Robert Duluth Kelley on Dec. 19, 1940.
Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker and a member of Russellville First Assembly of God. She taught Sunday School at Stella Manor Nursing Home for more than 25 years.

Tommy Lee Crow

Tommy Lee Crow, 73, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, Oct. 12, at Cox South Medical Center.
He was born April 6, 1939, in Little Rock to the late Albert and Lena Mae Crow.
Tommy worked as an electrician for 27 years at Alcoa in Bauxite. He shared the gift of life through organ/tissue donation (http://www.lifelineofohio.org/wp-content/uploads/symbol.gif).
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sylvia Matthews and Cora Jean Stinnett.

Shirley Jean Ashley

Shirley Jean Ashley, age 67, of Hensley passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.  She was born Nov. 16, 1944 in Little Rock.
Mrs. Ashley worked for Glazer’s and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Mabelvale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Earl and Lottie Coleman Bostain and her husband, Willard Roy Ashley.
She is survived by her four children, Donyail Smith and husband Gaylon of Traskwood; Willard G. Ashley and wife Terri; Bart Ashley and Rodney Ashley and wife Tonya all of East End.

Jo Anne Walker Jacobs

Jo Anne Walker Jacobs, of Benton, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.  She was born in Spadra to the late Millard C. Walker and Emma Harmon Walker.
She owned and operated Jo Anne’s Hairstyles in Benton for many years.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Benton, a 50-year member of Calvary Baptist Church’s choir, a Sunday School teacher and director, and a pillar of the church.
She was a member of Fortnightly Club. 
Mrs. Jacobs loved the Lord, was a fantastic cook, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and was loved by all.

Royce William Wray

Royce William Wray, 92, of Benton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20.  He was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Bauxite.
Mr. Wray served in the U. S. Marine Corps. On Jan. 3, 1942, his unit was the first to be sent to the South Pacific and stayed for 33 months.
He retired from Southwestern Bell and was a member of First Lutheran Church in Benton. 
Mr. Wray was preceded in death by his parents, Tobe and Della Wray; and two sisters, Lula B. Besancon and Floyce Holland.

Lacerine Smith Bell

Lacerine Smith Bell, 86, of Malvern died Friday, Oct. 12, in a Hot Springs hospital.
She was born in Tulip to the late Rev. Willie B. Smith and Mattie Baugh Smith. She was a retired LPN at the Arkansas State Hospital in Benton (Benton Services Center) and she was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church
Lacerine was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William Bell; three brothers, William T. "Dub" Smith, John E. Smith, Sr. and Henry Smith; five sisters: Mary Smith, Coretta Smith, Willie Green, Ortha Walker and Bernice Lambert

Myrtle Irene McGee

Myrtle Irene McGee, 88, of Benton passed away October 16.  She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Cade County, Okla., to the late George Arthur and Stella Simon Noah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by husband, James McGee of Benton; a sister, Doris Faye Jackson of Traskwood; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, by Ashby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kim Hammer officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
Visitation is set from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home.

Linda Linton Miller

Linda Linton Miller, 69, of Benton, surrounded and embraced by her loving family, passed away Oct. 11, 2012. 
She was a devoted daughter, mother, wife and teacher.  Linda was preceded in death by her father, William Linton.

James Ray Coburn

James Ray Coburn, 81, of Benton, passed away Sunday, October 14.  He was born October 4, 1931 in Benton to the late Jim and Lillian Coburn.  Mr. Coburn was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired from Reynolds and a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John David Coburn and a sister, Jo Wright.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Coburn; two nephews, Danny Wright and wife, Beth of Lonoke and Curt Wright and wife, Susie of Hot Springs and many extended family and friends.

Raymond Thomas 'Shorty' Bethard

Raymond Thomas “Shorty” Bethard, 94, of Benton died Sunday, Oct. 14, at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant. He was born April 26, 1918, in Fouke. Shorty was retired from McCoy Couch Furniture. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having serve with the 46th Seabees Battalion., and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas G. Bethard and Ettie Johnson Bethard; his wife, Merle Browning Bethard; two brothers; and three sisters.
