Carmon Marvetta Alexander Moon, 69, passed away Aug. 9.
She was a member of Southeast Christian Church and Bethlehem Evangelical United Church of Christ. She was a registered nurse and worked for University of Louisville Hospital. She performed with her husband, Stan. in the musical group, The New Moons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Colleen Sheffield Alexander; her stepmother, Zelma Alexander Foley; and her brother-in-law, Bobby Kitchen.
Marilyn Bayles, 60, passed away on Aug. 10.
Marilyn was born Aug. 10, 1952 in Benton. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved and cherished her children and grandchildren. She was dearly cherished and loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, William Jerry Bayles; her parents, Scotty and Betty Smith; and a brother, Claude â€śWoodyâ€ť Woodall.
Curtis David Sellers, 67, of Alexander passed away on August 10, 2012 with his family by his side.
He was born on November 30, 1944 to the late, Curtis Joseph and Ethel Mae Sellers in Little Rock.
Curtis proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and served in the United States Army for more than 16 years. He loved working on old cars and also serving as a police officer.
Mr. Sellers is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judy Tuggle.
Vera Iris Witcher, 90, of Benton died Friday, August 10, 2012 at her home.
She was born June 5, 1922 in Dierks, Ark.
Vera was a retired hairdresser and a member of First Baptist Church in Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Cecil Smith Boatman; sisters, Opal McKee and Vivian Houlton; and brother, Joe Boatman.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey O. and Aline Witcher of Benton; brothers, Marvin Boatman of Hot Springs; Euell Boatman of Indiana; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ashbyâ€™s.
Charles Preston â€śNuttâ€ť Phillips, 81, of Benton died Friday August 10, 2012.
He was born February 14, 1931 in Malvern, Ark. to Edith Cunningham Phillips and Ewell T. Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Howell, Bernie and Gervis Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Steve Golding.
James Howard Frost, 74, of Little Rock passed away August 9, 2012.Â He was born October 1, 1937 in Savannah, Ga. to the late Howard and Mary Louise McDowell Frost.Â He graduated from Benton High School in 1955.
Pat Grace, 82, of Benton, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012.Â
She was born April 11, 1930 in Marianna, Ark. to the late Ollie McKinney and Florene Standridge McKinney.Â Mrs. Grace lived in Olathe, Kan. for more than thirty years, where she raised her family and worked in the clerical office of a grocery business.Â She became a member of First Baptist Church in Benton upon moving here in 1988, and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Lonnie and Arnold McKinney.Â
P.J. Cowling, 75, of Bryant, passed away Wednesday, August 8, at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House in Bryant.Â She was born November 6, 1936 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Â
She is proceeded in death by her mother, Connie Orlopp-Merigoni and brother, Sonny Merigoni.
Jeremy Flynn Lewallen, 24, of Haskell, passed away Aug. 8.Â He was born Nov. 26, 1987, in Magnolia to Clifton Lewallen and Linda Geier Edens.Â
Jeremy served in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Winona Lewallen and Maxine Geier.
E. L. "June" Cody, 78, of Benton died Wednesday, Aug. 8. He was born Dec. 24, 1933. in Casa, Ark.
E. L. retired from Benton Utilities after 33 years of service. He was a 32nd-degree Mason of Lodge No. 34, a member of the Order of the Mystic Shrine, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Collins and Oma Smith Cody; a son and daughter; two brothers; and seven sisters.
