Beverly Jann Woodard, age 65, of Benton, died on Friday, June 17, at her home. Jann was born on July 17, 1945, in Bradley County, a daughter of the late Perry F. Williams and the late Vivian Corinne O’Neal Williams. She was a graduate of Banks’ schools, and attended Baptist Nursing School in Little Rock. She enjoyed a 37-year nursing career with Dr. Frank Thibault of Benton and built cherished friendships with her co-workers along the way.
Myrna Darlene Crossland, age 71, of Alexander died Sunday, June 19. She was born May 30, 1940, in Little Rock. Mrs. Crossland was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Landon and Addie Mae Perry Styers.
June 18th
Tom Wright Jr., age 82, of Alexander, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Friday, June 17, 2011. He was born August 12, 1928, in Clark County, the son of Thomas and Cora Bennett Wright. He was a retired groundskeeper for the Arkadelphia Country Club and Henderson State University and was a member of New Life Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Tucker.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Matilda Stewart Wright, a son, Stewart Wright of Bryant, one daughter, Dedra Angel of Alexander, and two grandchildren, Kit Wayne Carson and Misty Hill.Â
Barbara Rose Martin of Benton died June 17, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. Barbara was born April 30, 1942, in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Robert Chester Rose and Gladys Blackmon Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Chester Rose, Jr.
Barbara spent her childhood in northeast Louisiana where she met her husband (Jim) James B. Martin. They were married March 3, 1962, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Darnell, La. Jim and Barbara moved to Benton in 1973.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Benton.
June 17th
Stacy G. Wrights, 36 of Benton, passed away Monday, June 13, at Saline Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1975 to Jerome Griffin and Doris Latting in Benton.
Stacy is survived by several brothers and sisters, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Nicklaus Latting, James Hill and Wesley Hill; two grandmothers, Mary Griffin and Jimmie McCoy.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 18th at 2 p.m. at Elect Temple Church of God in Benton, inside the Christ Chapel.
June 16th
Flora K. Young, 89, of Erda, Utah, formerly of Benton, went to be with the Lord on June 12. She passed at home surrounded by family and friends. She was born August 4, 1921, in Saline County to the late Henry Hurliman and Anna Vollenweider Hurliman. On February 16, 1943, she married Clyde D. Young.
Flora was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a dear friend who enjoyed both her flower and vegetable gardens as well as cooking delicious meals. Mrs. Young was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church for over 50 years.   

Dixie Marie Land Marbury, 85, of Benton passed away Tuesday, June 14, at Arkansas Heart Hospital. She was born January 16, 1926, in Benton to the late Rufus Alfred Land and Marie Tibbles Land. Mrs. Marbury retired from the Little Rock Veterans Administration Hospital. She grew up in the First Baptist Church in Benton where she remained a life-long active member. She was always active in the Baptist Church Women’s Missionary Union, even when living in Hawaii and Japan. She was a treasurer of National Association Retired Employees.
Mildred Satterwhite (Grancy) Hinkson, 96, of Benton died June 14. She was born August 13, 1914, in Hope. Mildred was married to James E. Hinkson, who preceded her in death. She was the mother of seven sons and one daughter, and an active member of Old Union Baptist Church for over 50 years.
June 15th
Franklin “Frank” Filmore Newcomb, 89, of North Little Rock, formerly of Scott and Bryant, died Sunday, June 12. He was born August 21, 1921, in Bigelow to Cora and William Newcomb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and wife, Juanita. He is survived by his son, Randall and wife, Cindy of North Little Rock; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister.
He was a World War II veteran and a member of All Souls Church in Scott and Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant.
June 13th
Baby girl Presley Ann Eanes passed away Saturday, June 11, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. She was born June 7, in Little Rock.
Survivors include her parents, Ashley and Justin Eanes of Benton; brother, Jonah Eanes of Benton; grandparents, Russell Eanes of Morrilton and Brenda Shelton of Little Rock; Brent and Kim Russell of Benton; great-grandparents, Frances Bradshaw of Benton and Mike Russell, Benton; Jeanette Eanes of England; Mary Ann Pate of Little Rock; Erma Selby of Stephens; and great-great-grandparent, Ola Merle Russell of Alexander.
