Opal Rhodes of Benton passed away Feb. 2, 2014. She was born July 30, 1907, in Antoine, to the late Rufus Patrick Malone and Dona Ward Malone.
She enjoyed fishing and golf. She started the Longhills Ladies Golf Association in 1956.
Her most enjoyable activity was china painting. She started painting in 1960 and continued for 30 years. Her daughter and grandchildren cherish the many pieces of china they have received from her through the years.
Opal was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rhodes; five sisters; and one brother.
Josephine â€śJoâ€ť Greer, 85, of Benton passed away on Feb. 1, 2014.
She was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Flint, Mich., to Joe and Alee Farmer.
Jo was a homemaker and a member of Spring Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ida Mae Lee; a brother, Joe C. Farmer; a son-in-law, Edward Rundel; and a great-grandson, Jackson Stapleton.
John Alexander 'Jack' Davis III, age 81, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Little Rock to Eva Norman Davis and John Alexander Davis Jr. He was one of eight children growing up on the Davis Dairy Farm in Saline County.
He graduated from Bryant High School, where he served as student body president in the 11th and 12th grades. He helped start the first Bryant Hornet football team in 1949. Jack would still meet the â€ś49ersâ€ť for coffee to this day.
