Mary Pauline Shivers, 58, of Benton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was the daughter of the late George Shivers and Eula Trimm Shivers.
She is survived by two brothers, George and Allen Shivers and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Bro. Danny Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow at New Summit Cemetery in Bauxite.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 â€“ 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 5 at the funeral home.
Jerry Don Major, age 64 of Benton, AR passed away June 30, 2011. He was born June 12, 1947. He was preceded in death by his father Don Dewell Major, mother Juanita Jean Major, and sister Phyllis Jean Shelnut.
He is survived by wife Evelyn Ann Major, daughter Sheila Ranea Major, grandson Zachary Don Major, granddaughter Karlie Anne Major, and his sisters Sherry Stone Rankin and Debbie Colvert.
Visitation is at Ashby's Funeral Home from 6-8 pm today.
Thelma Lorene Jeffcoat, age 89, of Benton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was born December 22, 1921 in Benton, Arkansas. Mrs. Jeffcoat was retired from the furniture business. She worked for Curtis Mathis, OWASSO, McCoy Couch and Bryant Furniture. Mrs. Jeffcoat was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Dora Wood; husband, Willie Russell Jeffcoat and nine siblings.
Lorene Turner, 84, of Benton, passed away June 30 in Bryant.Â She was born June 14, 1927, in Dora, Ala. to the late Henry and Nora Cornelious Tingle. She was a retired banker for City National Bank in Ft. Smith and a member of Northside Church of Christ in Benton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McDuffie Turner, brother, Edward Tingle, and three sisters, Viola Peterson, Louise White, and Billie Harmon.
Norma Claire Spoonts, age 86, of Stamps, passed away Thursday, June 30. Mrs. Spoonts was born April 22, 1925, to James and John Christine Puska, in Waldo. She was a licensed beauty operator and a member of First United Methodist Church in Stamps.
Mrs. Spoonts was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James D. Puska.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Spoonts of Stamps, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Toyea Annette Reed, 53, of Benton went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 28, after a prolonged illness. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church for 30 years. Toyea enjoyed drawing, arts and crafts, singing hymns, going to church, and visiting with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bobbye Faye Christian Simon, 82, of Benton passed away on June 29. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Bobbye leaves behind her loving husband, Billy H. Gentrie; three daughters, Jackie Sorrells of Benton, Judy Fletcher and husband, Travis of Seabrook, Texas, and Jan Crifase and husband, Nick of Northfork, Ill.; four grandchildren, Micah Benson of Atlanta, Ga., Angela Sorrells of Dallas, Texas, Matthew Benson of Houston, Texas, and Jim Crifase of Northlake, Ill.; and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
CP Jackson, age 72, of Benton, passed away June 30. He was born June 7, 1939, in West Helena to the late Curdy P. and Esther (Holland) Jackson.
He was retired from Alcoa as a pipe fitter and a member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, music, and woodworking. He loved a good argument and to tell jokes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ledderman.
Alan Wayne Dawson, 50, of Benton, left this life to join his Heavenly Father on June 29.Â He was born July 26, 1960, in Benton.Â Alan worked for UPS for almost 30 years and developed many close friends with both employees and customers.Â He enjoyed hunting, running dogs and fishing.Â Alan was a member of Tyndall Park Missionary Baptist Church and PST Hunting Club.Â He was known for his love and generosity to his family and friends.Â Alan was preceded in death by his dad, Dale Dawson; great-nephew, Wyatt Lawrence, maternal and paternal grandparents; and several beloved uncles and cousins.
Judith Ann Brown, 68, of Benton, passed away June 28, 2011 in Bryant.Â She was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Joplin, Mo. to the late Leland S. Waterhouse and Virginia (Waterhouse) Marshall. She was a school teacher for 27 years for the Benton School District, a member of First Christian Church, and a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steven N. Brown.
