Eva Mae Toler

Eva Mae Toler, 94, of Jacksonville went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015. She was born in Leola, on April 24, 1920 to the late Luther C. and Gertie Applegate-Massey. Her mother died soon after Eva was born and her grandmother, Sallie Massey, parented her until she married her husband of 68 years, James Harold Toler, who preceded her in death in 2003.

Beverly D. Cunningham Herring

Beverly D. Cunningham Herring, 75, of Alexander, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. She was born Sept.12, 1939 to the late Merle and Priscilla Cunningham. She retired as a surgical technician at St. Vincent Infirmary after 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Theresa Penland; and stepson, Curtis Herring.

Maxine Shaff Phillips

Maxine Shaff Phillips, 86, of Benton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.  She was born Feb. 22, 1928 in Village. Mrs. Phillips was retired from the Arkansas Highway Transportation Department. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elry Joseph Rhodes and Hattie Frances Rhodes; first husband, Jack Shaff; second husband, W. R. “Buddy” Phillips and a granddaughter, Rachel Shaff.
She is survived by her son, Joe Shaff (Earlene); two daughters, Vicki Wright (Gary) and Kathy Shaff Tessendorf; grandson, Jonathan Shaff (Jessica) and two great-grandsons, Jax Shaff and Cody Tessendorf.

Dorothy “Darlene” A. Brown

Dorothy “Darlene” A. Brown, 56, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her father and brother in Heaven on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.  She was born May 31, 1958 in Mobile, Alabama to the late John C. Duke, Jr. and Annette “Nettie” Duke. She retired as a registered nurse from Saline Memorial Hospital after 28 years of service. 
Darlene was a devoted wife to her husband, Ralph Brown, a dedicated mother to sons Eric Brown, Jeremy Massey and Bobby Massey, and a beloved “DarDar” to her three grandchildren, Taylor Brown, Lily Massey and Olivia Massey.
