Kenneth Rae Ball

Kenneth Rae Ball, 62, of Alexander, passed away March 31, 2012 at his home. 
He was born June 5, 1949 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Lowell and Roberta Ball.
Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Little Rock in 2007 after working many years as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Janis Ball; son, Joshua Ball of Bryant; daughter, Anna Jones of Huntington, West Virginia; sisters, Nancy Messinger of California and Evelyn Fae Damron of West Virginia.

John Miller McGinness

John Miller McGinness, 70, of Little Rock, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at St. Vincents Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born November 5, 1941 in Little Rock the son of the late John and Neva Miller McGinness. He was retired from Maurice Sporting Goods and had served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1966. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul McGinness.

Virginia Elizabeth Dale Lawrence

Virginia Elizabeth Dale Lawrence, 80, of Benton passed away Wednesday, March 28, at Saline Memorial Hospital.  She was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Detonti to the late Robert Huey Dale and Eliza Geraldine Spurrier. 
Mrs. Lawrence was a loving wife and mother, a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and a retired store manager of the Jack 'N Jill children’s shop in Benton. She will be greatly missed.

Marland Lamar Lee Sr.

Marland Lamar Lee Sr., 85, of Mabelvale passed away March 26.  He was born Jan. 7, 1927, to Elizabeth Arwood of Birmingham, Ala.
He was a member of Christ Church on Vimy Ridge Road. He was dearly loved by all his family and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by four of his children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gertie Lee; 13 children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. 

Mrs. Billie Mae (Murphy) Berry

Mrs. Billie Mae (Murphy) Berry, 90, of Little Rock passed away March 25. She was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Arcadia, La., and was raised in Fordyce. She was retired from Dillard’s Department Stores in Little Rock and a member of Trinity Assembly of God in Little Rock.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Banks and Sallie Murphy; her husband of 63 years, Elmer Jewel Berry; a son, Gerald Berry; two half-brothers, three infant grandsons, and one great-granddaughter, Presley Marie Haywood.

Edith “Marie” Birmingham

Edith “Marie” Birmingham,  79 of Traskwood, formerly of Cord died Sunday, March 25, at the Saline Memorial Hospital .  She was born May 15, 1932 in Harrisburg to Floyd and Edith Gray Sloas.  She assisted in the opening of Fred’s Fish House in Cord and Batesville where she waitressed for 30 plus years.  She was a longtime member of Cord Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in the Church nursery; she loved the children and enjoyed telling them about Jesus.  In later life she moved to Traskwood with her daughter and she became a member of Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church.

Edward “Red” O’Dell Beaty

Edward “Red” O’Dell Beaty, 78, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, March 25. He was born February 11, 1934 in Saline County. Mr. Beaty was a Career United States Air Force Veteran who served during Vietnam.
He is preceded in death by his grandson Stephen Daugherty, and great-grandson Daemon Joniak.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Marie Beaty , his children; Douglas Beaty, Linda Daugherty, Barbara July and her husband Jeff, three grandsons; Timothy
Joniak, Paul Daugherty, James July, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins.

I.E. 'Eddie' McCray Jr.

Prominent Benton businessman I.E. “Eddie” McCray Jr. of Benton passed away Saturday, March 24. He was 84.
He was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Little Rock to the late I.E. McCray Sr. and Rose (Wray) McCray.
Mr. McCray was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the 1949 graduating class of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. 
He was an entrepreneur in Saline County for many years.
He was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, LaNelle (McNeil) McCray; and one brother, Jack McCray.

Lemual W. Newcomb

March 26, 2012

Lemual W. Newcomb ("Dub," as he was finally known), 79, of Heber Springs, fell asleep in death on March 15, with two of his sons at his bedside. He was born Jan. 2, 1933, in North Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Lee Newcomb and Maude Bell (Rood) Newcomb.
Mr. Newcomb was a retired masonry contractor and had done a lot of work in the Heber Springs area. He served this country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Haven Malia (Helmcamp) Bray, 33 passed away on March 20. She was born July 4, 1978, in Little Rock.
She is survived by her sons, Austin Smith and Haden Helmcamp, both of Mabelvale; her father; James Bray of Mabelvale; her mother, Charlotte Ann Bonds and stepfather, Leland Bonds of Malvern; one brother, Ray Ennis Jr. of Hot Springs, as well as many other friends and family members who loved her and will cherish her memory.
