Patrick Christopher Carrigan, age 47, of Benton died Wednesday, June 29. He was born January 16, 1964, in San Diego, Cali. Patrick was a US Air Force Veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Chad Rice.
Survivors include is wife, Tena Collie Carrigan of Benton; son, Sean Carrigan of Benton; daughters, Elizabeth Bradley of Conway; Megan Carrigan of Houston, Texas; parents, Charles D. and Jane Carrigan of Greenbrier; brothers, Charles D. Carrigan Jr. of Pleasant Plains; Brian K. Carrigan of the state of Washington; and grandmother, Ella Mae Carrigan of Maryville, Tenn.
Billy Joe Stringfellow, 81, left this life on July 1, at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House after a courageous battle with Alzheimerâ€™s, dementia and Parkinsonâ€™s disease.
Billy Milze McElwee, 79, a lifetime resident of Augusta, passed away Sunday, July 3.Â He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a lifetime member of the American Legion, where he was a 51-year member.
Sue B. Clark 67 of Little Rock passed away June 30, 2011. She was born on November 11, 1943 to the late John Andrew and Ada Elizabeth Osburn in Ferndale, Arkansas. She was a school bus driver for Pulaski County Special School District for seventeen years. Sue was also a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock. She enjoyed painting, flowers, bird watching and spending time with her kids and family.
Ruth Whitley, age 89, of Benton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was born April 24, 1922 in Haskell, Arkansas. Mrs. Whitley was a retired L.P.T.N. and a member of the 1st United Pentecostal Church in Bryant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Asbury and Hattie Gault; husband, R.A. Whitley and twelve siblings.
Mary Pauline Shivers, 58, of Benton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was the daughter of the late George Shivers and Eula Trimm Shivers.
She is survived by two brothers, George and Allen Shivers and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Bro. Danny Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow at New Summit Cemetery in Bauxite.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 â€“ 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 5 at the funeral home.
Jerry Don Major, age 64 of Benton, AR passed away June 30, 2011. He was born June 12, 1947. He was preceded in death by his father Don Dewell Major, mother Juanita Jean Major, and sister Phyllis Jean Shelnut.
He is survived by wife Evelyn Ann Major, daughter Sheila Ranea Major, grandson Zachary Don Major, granddaughter Karlie Anne Major, and his sisters Sherry Stone Rankin and Debbie Colvert.
Visitation is at Ashby's Funeral Home from 6-8 pm today.
Thelma Lorene Jeffcoat, age 89, of Benton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was born December 22, 1921 in Benton, Arkansas. Mrs. Jeffcoat was retired from the furniture business. She worked for Curtis Mathis, OWASSO, McCoy Couch and Bryant Furniture. Mrs. Jeffcoat was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Dora Wood; husband, Willie Russell Jeffcoat and nine siblings.
Lorene Turner, 84, of Benton, passed away June 30 in Bryant.Â She was born June 14, 1927, in Dora, Ala. to the late Henry and Nora Cornelious Tingle. She was a retired banker for City National Bank in Ft. Smith and a member of Northside Church of Christ in Benton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McDuffie Turner, brother, Edward Tingle, and three sisters, Viola Peterson, Louise White, and Billie Harmon.
Norma Claire Spoonts, age 86, of Stamps, passed away Thursday, June 30. Mrs. Spoonts was born April 22, 1925, to James and John Christine Puska, in Waldo. She was a licensed beauty operator and a member of First United Methodist Church in Stamps.
Mrs. Spoonts was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James D. Puska.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Spoonts of Stamps, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
