Katie Ann Hughes, 82, of Benton passed away on Feb. 4, 2014. She was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Star City to the late Palmer A. McFalls and Maude Eleanor Buck McFalls.
Katie was a charter member of Parkview United Methodist Church. She was named United Methodist Women's Woman of the Year and Parkview UMC Mother of the Year in 2008.
Katie was a member of the Arkansas State Womenâ€™s Bowling Association and served as a WIBC board member. She was honored as Arkansas Senior Women State Bowling Champion.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Robert C. Hughes, Sr.
Louise H. Rhodes, 103, of Benton passed away Feb. 4, 2014.
She was born April 1, 1910, to the late Dave and Eva Collatt. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church.
She taught at Bennett School, provided books for the Gann Memorial Library, was a guard at Reynolds Metals Co. during World War II and worked for the Red Cross for 41 years.
Louise was known as the â€śRed Cross Lady.â€ť
She loved to read until losing her eyesight. Louise loved talking to people and telling stories to a captivated audience.
Leonard Earl Cathcart, 87, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014.Â He was born November 15, 1926 in Lonsdale, to the late Robert and Claudia Cathcart.Â Mr. Cathcart was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church.Â He retired in 1986 after 35 years from Texas Eastern Pipeline as a transportation supervisor.Â Mr. Cathcart enjoyed his family, friends, gardening, fishing and hunting.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
