Milton T. Smith, age 82, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013.Â He was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Greenville, S.C.
Mr. Smith was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a pastor for 58 years. He was a minister for the Pentecost Church of God.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Smith Sr. and Nettie Smith; his first wife, Alice Smith; a daughter, Wanda Kaye Smith; three brothers, Calvin R. Smith, George W. Smith Jr. and Richard Smith; and five sisters, Iris Bowlin, Lucille Hodge, Elender Brown, Dorothy Wright and Nellie Manley.
Billy Ray â€śPatâ€ť Lynch, 77, of Mountain Pine died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. He was born April 30, 1936, at Hot Springs, the son of the late Ernest Lynch and Elvie Ellen Tucker Lynch.
He attended Mountain Valley Baptist Church, where he was active with the Mission Builders, a group that assists churches and missions with building projects. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lynch; his son, Benjy Lynch; and three brothers, James Lynch, Thomas Lynch and Tucker Lynch.
Mary Beth Davenport Herlein, 84, of Harrison, Ark., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 2, 2013, in Harrison. Beth was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Grant County to the late Joseph Beecher and the late Willie Brad Davenport of Benton.
She was a 1946 graduate of Benton High School and attended Arkansas Tech University, where she was a cheerleader for the Wonder Boys. There she met her late husband, Philip Charles "Duke" Herlein Jr. They were married in January 1947, and moved to Helena.
