Syble E. Wear, 88, passed away Aug. 30, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinsonâ€™s Disease. She was born on April 29, 1925, in Perry County. Syble enjoyed sewing, canning vegetables and playing a variety of card games. When family would visit, you would often find the ladies on the back sun porch playing Rook and laughing into the early morning hours. When summer came, you would likely find her and Pop sitting on the swing, snapping or shelling beans in preparation for canning.
Johnnie Elmore Doddridge, 60, of Traskwood passed away Aug. 31, 2013. He was born March 31, 1953, in Saline County. Johnnie worked in the lab at the 3M Company and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Robert Doddridge, and a special friend of the family, Joyce Corley.
Delbert Dwain Hairston, age 85, of Benton passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, from complications of a stroke. Dewain was born Dec. 9, 1927, to the late Walter and Una Hairston of Lincoln County.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Willerene Butler, Laverne Hathcote, Frances Blakely and Elsie Austin; brothers, Louis Hairston, Dudley Hairston and Doyle Blythe; and a son, Dr. R. Keith Hairston of Texarkana.
Alyssa E. Dillavou 18, went to be with her Lord on August 29, 2013 with her family by her side. She loved swimming and dancing.Â She is now in Heaven dancing with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her parents, Christy and Chadrick Dillavou and Stephanie Dillavou; three brothers, Jarrid, Clayton and Sam; two sisters, Maiken and Sydne; and a host of family and friends who all loved her and will miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home, 4212 Highway 5 North, Bryant, AR.
Vance B. Hogue Jr., 84, of Benton, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013.Â
He was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Winchester. Mr. Hogue retired from Arkansas Best Freight as an Over the Road Driver.Â He was a member of Dumas Uited Methodist Church and a retired Teamster.Â
Mr. Hogue was preceded in death by his parents, Vance B. Hogue Sr. and Ida Mae Brown Hogue; a daughter, Jennie Hogue; six siblings, Florence Walton, Fred Hogue, Betty Lou Haisty, Emma Hogue, Viola Wheetley and Rita Hogue; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hogue.
Edna D. James, 75, of Alexander passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.
She was born May 9, 1938, in Pine Bluff to the late Walter C. and Hazel Paralee White McGrew.
Mrs. James was retired. She was a Jehovahâ€™s Witness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Johnny C. Davis Jr.
Linda Patrick Fleury, 65, of Benton died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.
She was born in Two Harbors, Minn., on Jan. 6, 1948, to the late Milo and Astrid Rootness Patrick.
Linda had worked in an administrative position for BCBS and General Mills for 16 years before retirement. She loved to travel and take cruises and was an animal lover, especially her two dogs, Kieko and Skooter.Â
Edwin E. Zoch, 85, of Bryant died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013.Â
He was born July 29, 1928, in Springfield, Ill., to the late Ernest Earl and Mary Murdaugh Zoch. He moved to Bryant at a young age and spent most of his life there.
His early days of radio took him to Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi before settling back at Bryant in the 1960s.Â He retired from radio after 45 years, having spent the last 20 years as operations manager at KUAR/KLRE.
Mr. Zoch served as an alderman for the city of Bryant.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Erlene Zoch, in 2007.
Samuel Ronald "Ron" Johnson, 70, of Bryant passed away on Aug. 24, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
â€śMy flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:26.)
He was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Rosebud to the late A.C. Johnson and Nellie Mae Edwards Johnson. Ron was a faithful Christian.
James Edgar â€śJimmyâ€ť Giles, 82, of El Dorado died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at his home. He was born June 21, 1931, in El Dorado to Edgar William and Mattie Faye Giles.
He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War while proudly serving the U.S. Army.Â He was a recipient of the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, the Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.
He was married to Doris Marie Clift in 1955 and they had three daughters.
