James â€śJimâ€ť Thomas Key, 76, of Benton passed away Feb. 24, 2014. He was born Nov. 13, 1937, in Carthage, Tenn., to the late Tommy and Lovie (Bennett) Key.
Alfred C. Woods, 63, of Fostoria passed away at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at St. Catherine's Manor in Fostoria, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 15, 1951, to the late Elmer and Edna (Hunt) Woods in Fostoria, Ohio.
Alfred was a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, loved Ford trucks, loved country music and played the bass guitar.
Johnnie Inez Bryant, 67, of Benton passed away Sunday Feb. 23, 2014 at her home. She was born Jan. 27, 1947 in Benton to the late Hubert Lamar Keen and Frankie Christina Moody Keen.
Johnnie was a 1966 graduate of Benton High School, a housewife and a member of Grape Chapel Church of God.
Plumer Burnett Peeler, 89, of Malvern passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014.Â
He was born Sept. 15, 1924 in Benton.Â
Mr. Peeler was a retired carpenter. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Peeler served with the 83rd Infantry during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Hedge Row and Normandy, receiving several medals for his service including the Purple Heart.
Mr. Peeler was a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 217.Â
Leavon Dallas Bowers, 19, of Benton passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.Â He was born July 8, 1994 in Benton.
He was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Benton.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Fay DeSpain, and his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Camilla Bowers.
Chuck Vandergriff, 51, ofÂ Malvern passed away Feb. 21, 2014 at his home.Â
He was born May 13, 1962, in Little Rock to Charles and Virginia Curtis Vandergriff.Â Chuck was of the Baptist faith and worked in sales for Frito Lay.Â
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Eva Curtis Sr., and Pete and Mary Vandergriff; and an infant brother, Clint Vandergriff.
Betty Dickinson Henderson of Little Rock died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Hospice Home Care. Betty was born January 16, 1935 in Denver, Colo. to Lt. Col. W.D. and Vita Dickinson. She attended elementary school at the US Military Academy at West Point where her father served on the faculty all during WW II. After the war, her family returned to Little Rock where Betty graduated from Little Rock High School. Betty graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and met her husband, Don Henderson.
Mary Janette White Thornberry, 62, of Malvern, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014.Â She was born Feb. 7, 1951 in Benton.Â Mrs. Thornberry was a member of Glen Rose Assembly of God and worked for Avaya.Â
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Lee and Nannie Maude White.
June Austin (Jim) James, 82, of Benton, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014. He was born in Reform, on January 7, 1932 to Marshall W. James and Dora Harriet Hogue James. Jim retired from the nursery growing business. Prior to that, he was Vice President at Commercial National Bank. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall W. James, and his mother, Dora Harriet Hogue James; his brother, Jerry D. James (Peggy); and his sister Joanna James Gray.
John Leroy Miller, 67, of Alexander passed away Feb. 16, 2014. He was born Feb. 22, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Agnes Miller and the late Ralph Miller.
John was a truck driver and mechanic. He retired from Fort Worth Carrier after 25 years of service.
He was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
