Emmit Elbert Kizzia

Emmit Elbert Kizzia, 90, of Calico Rock passed away July 16. He was born June 27, 1922, in Murfreesboro to William Fletcher and Jessie Mae McMillen Kizzia.
He married Martha Sue Harrelson and the couple had three children.
In 1940 Mr. Kizzia attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, served in the U.S. Navy and received Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1948. He was a teacher and head football, basketball and track coach at Benton High School from 1948 to 1959.

Fred Aubrey Gould Sr.

Fred Aubrey Gould Sr., 87, of Alexander died Thursday, July 19, in Little Rock.
He was born April 15, 1925, in Bauxite to the late Fredrick and Mary Bishop Gould. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd Gould and Lenord Gould; and a sister; Bertha Rapier.

Margaret Elaine Covert

Margaret Elaine Covert, 79, of Benton passed away Wednesday, July 18 at Ridgewood Nursing Home.  She was born on October 13, 1932 in Houston, Texas to the late Willis and Mary Maguire Alston.  Mrs. Covert retired after working twenty-one years for J. C. Penney in their Credit Dept., and was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, and loved to travel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tommy and Pat Alston and two sisters, Mary McElroy and Lillian Miles.

E. Leslie Dixon

E. Leslie Dixon, 92, of Benton passed away Tuesday, July 17 at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.  He was born July 4, 1920, in Mulberry, Kan., to the late George and Alma Dooley Dixon.
Mr. Dixon obtained a master's degree and was a school teacher and coach in Kansas. He finished his career in the engineering division for the Kansas State Highway Department.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Randall Dewayne Smith

Randall Dewayne Smith Jr., infant son of Randy and Laura Porter Smith, passed away July 17.
He was preceded in death by his great -grandfather, Winston Smith.

Herald L. Radican

July 19, 2012

Herald L. Radican, 88, of Benton passed away July 16.  He was born March 26, 1924, in Commerce, Texas, to the late Clyde and Lona Troboy Radican.  Herald was a deacon at Holland Chapel Baptist Church in Benton, worked for Reynolds Metals and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He loved to make making walnut shell baskets and was well-known for this skill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wilma Radican.

Wayne Allison

Wayne Allison of Bryant passed away on July 15.He was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Higden to Will and Clara Allison.
Mr. Allison was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and working as a U.S. postmaster. He retired in 1986 from Safeway Warehouse, where he worked as a night watchman and maintenance man for 25 years.
Mr. Allison enjoyed going to church and the fellowship he had with his church family, gardening and yard work.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Christeen Allison; a half-brother, Dale Allison of Oakland, Calif.; and his parents.

Wanda Ouida Burks Parsons

Wanda Ouida Burks Parsons, 81, of Benton passed away July 15.  She was born July 24, 1930, in Benton to the late Tommy E. and Ruby Lea Crook Burks.  Wanda was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Euel Parsons; and a brother, Tommy Ray Burks.

James C. Evans

James C. Evans, 80, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, July 14. 
He was born Aug. 22, 1931 in Gladeville, Tenn.  Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Essex, during the Korean War.  He was a retired insurance agent and a teacher and of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Turner S. Evans and Neva Jeanette Dobson Evans; and his brother, Noel Evans.

Donald Bruce Billingsley Sr.

Donald Bruce Billingsley Sr., 69, of Benton passed away Thursday, July 12.  He was born April 18, 1943, to Tom and Mary Billingsley. Donald was known to close friends and family as Butch.  He loved Nascar, Walt Disney World, traveling and spending time with his wife. He was an avid Razorback fan. He graduated from Bryant High School and worked as an industrial salesman.
