Lillie Ruth Hill, 94, of Beebe, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 31, 2014. She was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church. A retired school teacher, she taught thirty-seven years, mostly in Beebe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hill; her parents, Bernie and Maude Isaacs; and one brother, Andrew Isaacs.
Jerry Wayne Elliott, 56, of Benton, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.Â He was born Jan. 15, 1958 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.Â Jerry was of the Baptist faith and retired from Little Rock Sheet Metal.Â Jerry was married to his sweetheart, Debbie, for 29 years.Â While his great love was for his family, a close second was for his hunting.Â He enjoyed the outdoors with his daughters, son-in-law and fellow Rattlesnake Mountain Hunting Club Members.Â Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend, who had a sweet smile and loving heart.
Tim Keenzel, 49, of Mabelvale passed away on Jan. 25, 2014.
He was born Dec. 11, 1964, to the late Charles and Patsy Keenzel in Little Rock.
Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing with his grandbabies and spending time with his family.
O.Z. Sharp, 82, of Benton died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in Little Rock. He was born Nov. 4,1931, to the late Luther and Dora (Suggs) Sharp in Alley. Mr. Sharp was a retired logger and of the Jehovahâ€™s Witness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mattie Faye (Pettit) Sharp.
William Fred Cheek Sr. of Ferndale passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. He was born Aug. 19, 1945, to the late Henry and Emmer Cheek.
William was the owner and operator of Cheek Enterprises for more than 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Masonic Lodge 309 of Paron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
William B. "Buck" Cross, 88, of Benton passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends Monday, Jan. 27, 2014.
He was of the Missionary Baptist faith.
Buck was born April 11, 1925, in Mt. Moriah to the late John and Jessie Cross. He retired from Alcoa where he had worked most of his adult life. Buck was married to his sweetheart, Louise, for 66 years. While his great love was for his family, a close second was farming. He was most at home on his tractor in a field baling hay, tending his cows or in his shop repairing his tractors.
Nellia Joyce Prather, 69, of Malvern was born July 2, 1944, and passed away Jan. 26, 2014.
Mrs. Prather was known for her kind and giving heart. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Prather; her parents, William and Linnie McLemore; and a brother, James Ray Freeman.
Mrs. Prather is survived by her children, Michael Serrano and Dani Petty and husband Matt; a grandson, Christopher Sanchez; a great-grandson, Jayden Sanchez; her siblings, Frankie Freeman and Dianne Finch; and other family members and friends.
Martha Virginia "Toby" Carter, 91, of Benton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.Â
She was born Feb. 18, 1922, to the late Martin and Grace Huchingson Wills in Benton.
Toby retired from Alcoa after serving as manager in the traffic department. After retirement, she traveled extensively to other countries.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Benton, where she was involved in many committees and was active in the United Methodist Women.
Viene Johnson, 76 of Benton went to be with the Lord on Jan. 26, 2014. She was born March 24, 1937 in Benton, to the late Lawrence Edward Tatum and Pearl May Bryan Tatum.
She was a lifetime member of New Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deborah Ballard; two brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by a son, Ricky Johnson (Melissa) of Benton; a daughter, Janet Mashburn (Albert) of Benton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Susie Rankin of Oklahoma.
David O. Duran, 74, of Bryant passed away on Jan. 24, 2014, at Baptist Health Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 25, 1939, to the late Adelia Didlo and Edward Manning in St. Josep, Mo.
Dave served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962 and completed tours on the USS Brough and USS Peterson.Â He was a retired computer consultant and enjoyed working on cars, traveling and reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Kaye Ann Steinmetz.
