Lester Riley Ruffin

Lester Riley Ruffin, 75, of Benton passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21. He was born Oct. 6, 1936, in DeWitt to the late Lester and Effie Ruffin.
Mr. Ruffin was a "Class A Machinist" and owner of Ruffin Mold and Machine in Benton, a U.S. Air Force veteran, where he served as an aircraft machinist.
He was a Christian. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tamara Ruff; and a brother, Donald Lee Ruffin, Sr.

Ashley Nichole James

Ashley Nichole James, 25, of Benton went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 20. 
She was born Feb. 16, 1987, to Greg and Paula James in Hot Springs.  She was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Paula DePriest James; her grandfather, Steve O. DePriest; and her great-grandparents, Gordon and Gladys Wright.

Logan Hayes Parker

Logan Hayes Parker, 21, of Bryant, departed this world on Saturday, Feb. 18.  He was born May 21, 1990, to Jim Mack and Robin Parker of Bryant.
Logan fought for life from his first moments on earth.  Born with a serious heart condition, he survived a seven-hour surgery at just two days old. 

William W. “Bill” Mayer

William W. “Bill” Mayer, of Bryant, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 16.
He was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Little Rock, to the late Fannie Williams and Henry Dawson Mayer. Bill was a member of the Bryant United Methodist Church. He graduated from Little Rock Senior High School in 1950 and was a proud member of “Wilson’s Tigers.” This group played football for Wilson Matthews and has stayed in close contact over the years. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Korea during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Erin Keim, 34, of Benton, was taken home to be with the Lord on Feb. 19.  She was born Oct. 10, 1977, in Little Rock. 
Erin lived a life acquainted with illness from an early age of 6.  Many saw the results of that in her physical limitations.  Those who knew and loved her saw her strength and courage.  Her great loves in her life were always first, her daughter Taryn; her family; North Bryant Baptist Church; and the one who gave her strength, hope and courage, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

Mary Virginia Heaslet

Mary Virginia Heaslet, 95, passed from this life on Feb. 17 at her home in Benton. She was born to Robert Vest and Harriet Still "Hattie" Thomas on Feb. 9, 1917.
Mary Virginia loved to visit new places and had traveled the world extensively. She was retired from Hughes Aircraft and delighted in sharing the story of the role she played in the building of the Surveyor 1, which was launched in 1966 and was the first American space probe sucessfully launched.

Charlotte Goss Whatley, 68, of Benton went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 16.
She was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Little Rock to the late John Calvin Goss and Callie Mae Cochran Goss. She was an accountant for Walmart for 30 years and was a member of The Church at Rock Creek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Elizabeth Goss; a son, David Calvin Whatley; her brothers, Gary, Phillip, David and Wallace Goss and Charles William Barker.

Claire Christine Walls Ohlsen, 43, of North Little Rock passed away on Wednesday, Feb.15.
She was born in Arkadelphia on Feb. 15, 1969. She graduated from Sheridan High School and attended University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.

Jefferson David “J.D.” McVay, 69, of Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14.
He was born Feb. 18, 1942 in Little Rock to the late Ewell Gilford McVay Sr. and Helen Moody McVay.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert McVay; and two sisters, Ona Spinnenweber and Elizabeth Lindsey.

Kenneth D. Wilson

Kenneth D. Wilson, 58, of Benton died Tuesday, Feb.14, at John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born May 15, 1953, in Clinton.   
Mr. Wilson was a retired U. S. Air Force veteran serving for 20 years as an aviation mechanic.  He then sought to help other veterans by working at the Veterans Hospital.  His life revolved around his love for God, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.P. Pope
