Irwin Elson Barger, 92, of Benton passed away March 5, 2014.Â He was born June 27, 1921 in Nettleton, to the late Freeman S. and Bertha Sawyers Barger.
Irwin served in the U.S. Army during World War II.Â He was a member of the Highway 5 Church of Christ and held a license in real estate and brokerage.
Irwin was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Barger; three brothers and three sisters.
Paul Richard McLeod, 60, went to his heavenly home on Monday, March 3, 2014. He was born to the Rev. Sidney Dexter and Leota Lucille Palmer McLeod in Magnolia.
He was a graduate of Benton High School and Pulaski Technical HVAC College. He was the owner of Bittner-McLeod Refrigeration, an avid golfer, and a devoted member of East Union Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed his many friends and colleagues and always had a joke and a smile for everyone.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and his brother, Johnnie Lee McLeod.Â
Larry Lain Crocker, 74, of Benton passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born May 21, 1939 in Titusville, Pa., to the late William Lewis and LuClaire Hollabaugh Crocker.
Larry was a member of New Summitt Church of God and owner of Popploâ€™s Pizza.Â He served 10 years with the U.S. Air Force.Â Larry retired from a food management position with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diane Sue Crocker; a daughter, Carla Hollinger; a brother, Bill Crocker; and a sister, Betty Akins.
Flora Norine Wheeler White, 69, of Bryant, widow of Gerald Dean White, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014. She was retired from Timex and was working at the Bryant Senior Activity and Wellness Center. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Billie Jean Bentrup; her husband, Gerald; a daughter, Debbie Lynn White; and two brothers, Bobby Richardson and Billy Richardson.
Jeffrey Earl Whitfield, 57, of Alexander passed away Feb. 24, 2014.Â
He was born June 16, 1956. in Benton to Fred and Dorothy Ward Whitfield.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Whitfield.
He is survived by his father, Fred Whitfield of Benton; two brothers, Joe Whitfield of Benton and Floyd Whitfield of Malvern; many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Ashby Funeral Home with Joe Whitfield officiating.Â Immediately after the service, a Native American memorial services will be held at 4221 Silica Heights in Benton.
Harlan David Beaty, 61, of Benton died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, of a heart attack. He was born in Little Rock on Sept.Â 23,Â 1952, to Horace â€śBuckâ€ť and Irene Beaty. Harlan was a lover of the outdoors.
His favorite hobbies were working in the yard, building things and painting. He loved his family.Â He spent many hours tracking the family lines and travelling to different places to research records and photograph headstones.
Florriedeen W. Lyle, 100, of Benton passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014.Â She was born July 30, 1913, in Searcy to the late Delbert and Odeen Smith Wakenight.Â
Mrs. Lyle was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Benton and a retired teacher in the Benton School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas B. Lyle, in 1956.
She is survived by her daughter, Linnie Lyle of Benton.
A private graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Dalewood Cemetery, 2122 West Pullen St. in Pine Bluff.
Linda Joyce Lewis, 67, of Benton went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2014. She was born Feb. 16, 1946, in Limestone County, Ala., to Alvin Burdgett and the late Francis Aday Posey.
Linda was a member of Wrightâ€™s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. She enjoyed many hobbies including flower gardening, painting and crocheting.
Linda worked as an LPN in the medical field. She is remembered for loving her family unconditionally.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother; and a son, Robert Lance Lewis.
Golden Crow Bragg, 96, of Benton passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home. She was born June 27, 1917, in Paron.
Golden was a housewife and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Artie Johnson Crow; her husband, Harold Bragg; a son, Robert â€śBudâ€ť Bragg; a brother, Robert Crow and wife Margaret; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Bragg.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Bettye Bragg; two nephews, Hugh Davis and Robert Crow Jr.; nieces, Betty Callahan and Bonnie Reynolds; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
Christie Goins, 34, of Benton died Feb. 27, 2014. She was born July 15, 1979, in Little Rock to Randy Raper and Beverly Moore.
She was a hard worker. She loved her children and family unconditionally, expecting nothing in return.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Ervin Moore and Ruth Neil and Tommy Joe and Edna Raper.
She is survived by her parents; four children, Cassidy and Courtney Goins and Cody and Chris Bennett; a brother, Randall Raper; a sister, Samantha Jo Raper; and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends who will miss her dearly.
