Madean “Dumpy” Rickard, 78, of Bryant died Thursday June 13, 2013. She was born Oct. 1, 1934 in Bauxite to Dick and Ona Daugherty.
She was a 1952 graduate of Bauxite High School and Capitol City Business College. She had worked for Saline County Social Services and the Saline County Tax Collector's Office. Madean was a member of East Smith Street Church of Christ.
She was given the nickname “Dumpy” and was known by her family and many friends by this name.
Leonard E. "Lenny" Boyer, 67. of rural Oronogo (Jasper County, Mo.), passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Lenny was the seventh son born to the late Chester Vern and Mabel Agnes (Means) Boyer on March 12, 1946.
Lenny graduated from Alba High School in 1964. He was named in the top 100 in the United States to the Little All-American Basketball team as a senior and was given the Sports Illustrated Award of Merit on March 23, 1964. Upon graduating from high school, Lenny signed a professional baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, following in the footsteps of his older brothers.
Faye F. Emmons, 83, of Benton passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013. She was born Jan. 7, 1930, in San Angelo, Texas.
Faye was a homemaker and a member of Tyndall Park Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelvin and Katie Marshall Williams; her husband, John D. Emmons; her brothers, Fred and Earl Williams; and her sisters, Judy Metcalf, Aline Erwin and Loyce Fisher.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Emmons of Benton, John Scott Emmons of Texas, and Alan Emmons of Benton; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
David W. Smith, 40, of Marion died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 11. 2013. He was a devoted husband and father and warehouse manager for Coca-Cola for 15 years and a member of the West Memphis First United Methodist Church.Â
David was an avid hunter, enjoyed coaching his children in sports and enjoyed spending time with his family.Â

Doug Williams, 67, of Bauxite passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013. He was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Helena.
Mr. Williams was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Arkansas State Police. He served 27 years and 7 months. Doug was Commander of the Crimes Against Children Division upon retirement. He ends a 35 year career in law enforcement, including more than three years with the Little Rock Police Department and four years with the United States Secret Service-Executive Protective Service. Doug was currently employed at the Department of Human Services' Division of Child Care.
James D. Berry, 63, of Benton went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 11, 2013. Jim was born Nov. 4, 1949, to J.D. Berry and Lucille Bednark Berry in Bauxite.
A graduate of Bauxite High School, Jim served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Benton Police Department.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Phillip Berry.
Patricia Faye Rickford, 66, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013. She was born April 27, 1947, in Benton. Mrs. Rickford was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dulsie Howard; her husband of 45 years, Clifford Rickford; two brothers, J.W. and Ronnie Howard and a sister, Mary Young.
Jearldine "Jerri" Janice Burge, 81, "our Mimmie," went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
She was born in Bonnerdale on March 17, 1932. She resided in Bryant and formerly Hot Springs. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Benton. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; and her parents, Marlow and Gertrude Evans.
Linda Sue Jeffcoat, 67, of Benton went to be with her Lord on June 9, 2013, with her family by her side. She loved spending time with her children, family and especially her grandbabies.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pearl Balding; and two brothers, David and Wayne Balding.
Imogene DuVall White, 86, passed away on June 10, 2013, at Heartland Rehabilitation and Care Facility in Benton.
She was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Grant County to the late E.H. and Ida DuVall. Mrs. White was strong in her faith and worked many years both as a volunteer and an employee at First United Methodist Church in Benton.
