BRYANT — Bryant took the first game of a doubleheader Friday against Van Buren, which was postponed Thursday due to inclement weather.
The Hornets won 12-2 in six innings. The results of the second game were not available by press time.
Bryant (17-4, 7-2 7A Central) went into Friday’s game with a two-game lead in the conference.
Junior Jordan Taylor pitched all six innings for the Hornets and earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
Head coach Kirk Bock said, “Jordan did a great job today.”
Two Benton High School students, Jacie Gregory and Jenny Belz, will be cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks next year.
However, unlike most Fayetteville freshman they will be doing so on the sidelines because both were named earlier this month to the 2011 cheerleading squad.
Belz, 17, the daughter of Dan and Mary Belz, and Gregory, 17, the daughter of Jim and Jana Gregory, will join former Panthers cheerleader Carly Glover, 19, who graduated from Benton in 2010.
