October 5, 2012

The Benton Panther boys golf team followed in the footsteps of the girls team to end the season. The Panthers won the 6A South conference on Monday and then took third in the State Tournament on Tuesday. Playing at El Dorado Country Club, the Panthers edged the home team by three strokes winning with a score of 313. El Dorado followed with at 316, Sheridan (319), Texarkana (337), Lake Hamilton (342) and Siloam Springs (344).
"We had a great week," Benton Coach Chad Pitts said. "We won the conference and finished third overall. I couldn't be anymore proud of the boys."

Despite illness, broken hand, Hornets finish 3rd in state

October 5, 2012

The Bryant Hornet golf team finished up its season at Centennial Valley Golf Club in Conway in the 7A State Tournament earlier this week. But it was no ordinary tournament. The Hornets battled through illness and broken bones as they fought their way to a third-place finish, ending the year just three strokes behind runner-up Fayetteville. Conway ran away with the tournament on its way to the championship, posting a two-day total of 590. Fayetteville finished with a 621 with Bryant standing close at 624.
