LITTLE ROCK – The University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks came to the Arkansas Razorbacks’ second home of War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and upset the No. 8-ranked team in the nation 34-31 in overtime. The Razorbacks led 21-7 at the half and 28-7 early in the third quarter before allowing the Warhawks and quarterback Kolton Browning to come back for the win in front of 53,089 fans.
September 5th
The Bryant Lady Hornets’ varsity and junior varsity teams traveled to JA Fair High School in Little Rock for 6A South Conference action on Tuesday night and had little trouble coming out with victory sweeps. The varsity won 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-8) and the JV won 2-0 (25-9, 25-5).
“The girls played well, but we didn't play anywhere near our caliber of play,” Bryant Coach Beth Solomon said of the varsity. “The girls won the first game 25-10 then started to "play down" in Game 2.
The Benton Lady Panthers' varsity volleyball team had an exhausting match against Mena at Benton Arena on Tuesday, while the Lady Panthers' junior varsity squad eased to victory defeating Mena's JV 2-0 (25-16, 25-12). Benton's varsity actually lost the first two sets 19-25 and 20-25 before fighting back to win the last three games in close fashion taking the match 3-2, winning 26-24, 25-21 and 16-14.
