HASKELL – For the Harmony Grove Cardinals, wins have been few and far between. It was March 28 when the Cardinals last found themselves in the win column with a 5-2 victory over 3A South conference favorite and arch rival Glen Rose. Since that time, the Cardinals have lost seven straight including a loss to conference foe Fountain Lake on Monday, 6-4.
FARMINGTON, Ark. - The Bryant Lady Hornets won their 26th and 27th consecutive games dating to last year when they traveled to Farmington to play two against Mansfield and Farmington on Saturday. Bryant defeated the Mansfield Lady Tigers 14-2 and beat the Farmington Lady Cardinals 7-2 to improve their undefeated season to 24-0 overall and 7-0 in the 7A Central conference.
BEEBE - The Benton Lady Panthers strolled into Saturday’s Beebe Tournament riding an 18 game winning streak and looking to tack on even more to their already successful season.
WIth a pitching dual brewing through the first three innings, both Benton and Westside Jonesboro combined for three hits and two walks before the low scoring affair finally got it’s first run in the fourth.

DEQUEEN – The Bauxite Miners dropped a 6-5 decision to the DeQueen Leopards on Friday night in 7-4A conference play in DeQueen.
Down 6-2 going into the seventh inning, the Miners (8-10, 2-4 7-4A) scored three runs in the top of the seventh, but fell just short.
“We had the tying run at second and the winning run at first,” Bauxite Coach Michael Mattox said of the last inning. “We had the double steal on, and on the same pitch, we struck out to end the game. We were hoping for a throw there to see what happened, but we didn’t get one.”
PINE BLUFF – The Benton Panthers traveled to Pine Bluff expecting to score some runs, but instead got a pitching duel on Friday night against the Zebras in 6A South conference action. The Panthers came away with a 1-0 win over Pine Bluff to improve to 16-4 overall and 7-1 in the 6A South. It was the Panthers ninth consecutive win.
“It was crazy,” Benton Coach Mark Balisterri said.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK – The defending state champion Bryant Lady Hornets ran their winning streak to 25 games, dating to last year, with an 8-1 7A Central conference victory over the North Little Rock Lady Cats on Friday at Lady Cat Field at Burns Park in North Little Rock.
“Big conference win,” Bryant Coach Debbie Clark said. “It’s my first time as [Bryant’s] coach to beat [North Little Rock] here. It’s a big coaching win for me. I told them thank you. They didn’t know that before the game, but that was big for me.”
HASKELL - The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals continued their tear through the 3A South conference on Friday with another win. This time the foe was longtime rival Jessieville. With the 11-0 rout of the Lady Lions, Harmony Grove moved their winning streak to an amazing 10 straight, but most of all, brought home another 3A South conference championship and an automatic bid to Regionals.
There was no denying his coaching ability. After Houston Nutt pretty much jumped ship, maybe under a little pressure, to the Ole Miss Rebels after the 2007 season leaving the Hogs without very much at all, Bobby Petrino took over for the Razorbacks. After a slow start, Petrino took Arkansas to a Bowl Conference Series bowl in 2010 losing to the scandalous Ohio State Buckeyes – when five players should have been suspended for getting tattoos at a discounted price and selling school memorabilia – but the Hogs finished with a 10-3 record.

BENTON – Benton Lady Panther tennis players Any Jivan and Lauren Dudley were at Benton Arena to acknowledge their step to the next level on Wednesday afternoon at Benton Arena. Jivan received a full academic scholarship to Hendrix College in Conway and will play tennis there, and Dudley signed a letter of intent to play tennis at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.
BRYANT – Bryant Lady Hornets senior Brianna White signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with the University of Arkansas Fort Smith Lady Lions on Wednesday afternoon in the Bryant gym. White joins a Lady Lions team that went 27-8 last year and made it to the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.
“I think she’s really going to help their program,” Bryant Head Coach Beth Solomon said. “We’re going to hate losing her. She’s been our middle leader for three years now. It’s going to be hard for us to lose her, but we wish her the best.
